Unfortunately we're having to throw players in to key games who haven't played much and we expect them to be at their best straight away. Most of our players need regular games to get the best out of them, Delph is one, so is Jesus and Mendy. It's a symptom of rotation but at the moment we have no choice.

No, not correct on any of those points.

Delph has been a liability and costs us game after game after game. It's not his fault, he needs to be put out of his misery. But whether he plays one game, ten games or a hundred games he will be at fault for at least a goal or a sending off.

Last night we had Kompany, Stones and Danilo on the bench. Any of them would have been a better option (with Laporte at left back).

True...I've said a few times this season he's been a liability at this position.

The issue is he's not a natural defender in this position and often gets caught over playing rather than a defensive instinct of sniffing out danger.

Last season he did very well, but a lot of his strengths in this position come when play is in front of him. I've lost count the number of times he struggles when he actually needs to defend positionally & closing down the space when the ball gets played in behind.

To be fair its not his fault as he's a midfielder by trade & Pep has shoehorned him in the left back position where of course there are going to be positives & negatives. Can't deny his heart and desire for the game, but at the top level you need to be switched on for the full 90mins especially when you're put in a position not natural to him.

However, as others have mentioned it was strange he got the nod over other makeshift defenders last night, especially when he really hasn't played much football this season.

Lots more intelligent choices yesterday. Laporte at full back, we had enough fresh centre back legs through Stones. Pep has admitted he wanted to play two DM’s at the expense of Kev. Best coach in the world but he fucked up last night. Overthinking the CL. Play our best team in the normal way and w3 would hav3 won that comfortably.

Thanks for the efforts last season, but hopefully we won't see him again in a city shirt

Son was having a field day against him and was only a matter of time until something happened from that side unfortunately. Laporte at LB like he did in the bigger games this season would've been a better choice, as Vinnie + Ota could easily handle that lump Kane

Pep opted for Delph's intelligence & versatility over Danilo, in hindsight easy to say it was a mistake owing to some naive defending on one action but this match could've just as easily ended up a win or draw. It's football but obviously it underscores the issues at LB in all the time Pep has been at City, crazy really

Your scraping the barrel there mate

He'll be at Sheffield United next season, relearning the basics of football
