Delph isn't an alternative to Pogba. If anything he's a potential squad replacement for Lampard/Milner. Kids got potential, we've been sniffing around him since his Leeds days. More mobile than Fernando, much younger than Fernandinho, £10M outlay is nothing nowadays when you've got the likes of Barklay being quoted at £30M & Schneiderlain at £25M. His success might all rest on his ability/mentality to be a squad player until he's at the level to be first team automatic pick, Sinclair & Rodwell struggled with this as did AJ. Sometimes a gamble is worth considering.

In the past few seasons, on the occasions when Villa have got their shit together & played well, Delph has been absolutely outstanding in the middle of it all. I was a bit taken aback at the time when he decided to sign a new deal, with Villa in a relegation battle, and the chance for him to write his own cheque on a free transfer.

This clause would explain a lot.

If it exists, and the lad is up for being a squad player (a big risk going into the Euros), it's an absolute no-brainer for us and would be a great piece of business.

He has plenty of energy.

It's no surprise that just a few years ago we wanted both Sterling and Delph, but now they will cost best part of £60m.

No, he will improve the squad, there's a big difference.

The drop off in the performance levels are vast when key positions are impacted by injuries or suspension.

Players such as Delph are hard to acquire because they are starters anywhere else.

You can't seriously think we're willing to spend £40 mill plus on Sterling just to satisfy the HG requirements? We would be better off submitting a 19 man squad including Hart & Clichy.

Crazy how spoilt some are on here, would be a cracking signing at £10mil. IMO a far better player than Jimmy Milner and everyone wanted him to stay....
