Hahahah. Yeah, superb player he would have been for us. Didn't even have the bottle to even turn up and fight for a place. Clearly not the sort we want here. Consider this a blessing in disguise.

Good. Even he knew this was a massive mistake. Saves us from sending him on loan for 3 years while paying his salary.

Txiki, find better targets who can actually contribute. Quota players are total wastes of money if they won't play.

Slightly disappointing, but it's his career and there are good reasons for staying at Villa.

Not everyone is an inveterate risk taker. He'd be risking a lot to come to City. Can't blame him for playing it safe.

To those blaming our media image, you're wrong, up to a point. We need homegrown players who'll back themselves to the extent that what is written in the press doesn't affect their decision making process. Anyone who falls short of that isn't what we want at this club.

if it was the scum who came calling in would of gone there because the propaganda from the media we are a grave yard for English players where's as the scum are not

it's not the fact he isn't joining, but the fact we got turned down by Delph (who really cares, he's nothing special) when the deal was practically done. That's shambolic and 3 years worth of banter for others.

The worry now is, if we can't get Delph or Wilshire who do we get?

Jonjo Shelvey?

Targets will only get worse in quality now regards HG status.

Exactly what i'm thinking. We're very limited in options now, All those that are delighted with us not signing Delph don't seem to realise what the alternatives are. Delph was the best option and there's no alternatives that match his standard. I hope and would expect them to have planned for this scenario but we've seen what our plan B's have been like over the past 2 windows.

Those that are claiming Delph's bottled it or proven he's not got what it takes to play for us couldn't be more wrong. Signing for City was the easy option, take the money, take the trophies etc or stay at Villa in a scrap for survival. He feels he's making the right choice for his career and wants to remain loyal to Villa. That was the more difficult option to take and fair play to him for taking it.

It really is a joke this HG quota.

Who can we go for now who is good enough for City and actually progress us.

Plus no doubt we will get rinsed on any fee that will eat away at our budget.

All jokes aside, I think this shows that media narratives used against us are having some kind of effect. english lads getting " You won't play at man city, you wont play at man city." drilled into their heads, something like this was bound to happen. Embarrassing but hopefully harmless in this instance. RE homegrown quota getting to the point where we might have no choice but to promote someone, as much as pellegrini might be resistant to the idea lol

We weren't focused on that all along?

The great news of this struggle to sign overpriced home grown players is that we may be forced to promote our own youth. This is where we will find out whether they have the quality required and at the same time put this 'city dont promote youth players', to bed. The only reason this hasn't happened is the depth of quality in the squad. Now this is being tested we will have little option but to promote youth. Bring it on.

Whatever one thinks of his ability PR wise this is pretty fucking poor. We had a got as far as a medical and then it all falls through. We obviously wanted him. Added to the ongoing shambles that is the Sterling transfer and we are giving the media a field day.

I can't say that I'm that arsed. Not even sure why we went for him. If we're that desperate to fill a home grown spot we should have fucked Cabellero off and brought in a young English keeper. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to have him using up a place like that. Poor from City.
