Fans leaving early.

people can come and go as they like - they pays their money and makes their choice
BUT
it is a total ball-ache for someone who stops to the end when every match, from 82, 83 minutes gone, they get the 'excuse me, excuse me' mob fighting down the row leaving early - little consideration for those that want to sit watch to the end

As it happens I sit slap bang in the middle of a row so I don't get affected but I see others that do...

Just as bad are those that arrive late to their seat EVERY fookin game. and at half time. There is a pair of absolute twonks sat next to me who do this RELIGIOUSLY every game - drives the rest of the row up the wall. And when I said, why can't you get sat down before kick off, he looked at me like I was talking gibberish - once again, didn't give a shit about how much he put out about a dozen people he was having to get past at the start of EVERY game! Unbelievable.

Do you sit on the same row as me!! Pair of bald idiots who are 5 mins after kick off every week then leave 5 mins before HT then back 5 mins after HT.

Think that annoys me the most is our area has a lot of disabled people in it so their is a blind man and a severly immobile fella that have to stand up to let these clowns past.

Ha ha, any of you lads in 217 by any chance ?

Why can't we have some "film extras" standing by at the top, so when you vacate your seat to go home, he or she sits in it creating the full to capacity look? It works at the oscars and other awards ceremony's.
Just sayin

The comparison to Maine Road is interesting.

Maine Road was an absolute mare to get away from. Saying that, most fans didn't arrive by car.

The Etihad in my opinion is much easier to get away from, but because of it's location in East Manchester, more fans now have to travel by car to get there.

The Mancunian Way, coming in from the West of the City(Trafford, Salford, etc), and Hyde Road, coming in from the East/South/M60 of the city(Tameside, Stockport, etc), are absolutely rammed with cars.

I used to live in Ladybarn and walked to Maine Road. Now I live in Cheadle Heath and drive to the Etihad. I park 10-15 minutes from the ground and walk the rest of the way.

In a nutshell. More City fans use their cars to get to the Etihad. The Trams and Buses have made a difference, but not enough of a difference to get People/fans out of thier cars.

Perhaps the club could team up with GMPTE and offer buses/coaches from Metrolink Park and ride car parks on Matchdays, for a minimum fare. That would take more cars off the road on matchdays.

As an example. Getting a tram from East Didsbury means a tram into town, changing, and then a tram to the Etihad. A bus/ coach at the park and ride would take you straight to the ground. I appreciate it's not the perfect solution, but it would take more cars of the road on matchdays.

There's a match day bus service that stops right outside East Didsbury tram station that takes you direct to the ground.

Oh! Thanks for that. :-)

I used to live in Rusholme when we played at Maine Road so i used to walk and never left early, I know live in Cheadle and drive, always stay to the end and always home by 6pm when we kick-off at 3pm. How does the bus work from Cheadle? Is it just pay on the bus for a return? What time does it leave after the game?

I think we have to factor in the crowd is 30% bigger than at Maine road. 10 years on many more cars on the road. It had to end up shit.

People have different reasons for leaving early, most of them bollocks, but its up to them I suppose.
Since the move its great for us as we live east Manchester, Maine road was a fucker. We do stay to the end but even living so close it takes an age to get away from the ground. We are not that arsed we pop on gmr and just get on with it.

One set of fans I have total respect for are our far away blues. I often tease them on here as tourists but fair play you travelling 2,3, even 4 hours to get to the game.

Only left early once (my ride home wanted to leave early) and hated it. But so long as people don't bother me standing and watching the game in front of me while edging their way out I don't really care what anyone else does.

pretty much as i see it too and being from east manchester the etihad in general is a dream to get to and from
people leave early for all sorts of reasons and that's their business
but you do have wonder sometimes, we have an elderly couple who leave on the dot of the 4th official raising his board regardless of the match situation but then again that's their business

That's how i see it.

Most of their reasons are total bollocks but what's it got to do with me?

EDIT- although i did miss Stephen Ireland's winner against Reading a few years back as a few people were wanting to get past me as they were leaving and they diverted my attention away from the game and - bang - he scored! I was happy but really gutted at the same time.

It's not the fans leaving early that bothers me - it's the guys (and gals) who always turn up late, always have a desparate need to go for a bovril halfway through the first half, always go for an early pint 5 mins before the break, then always repeat the whole fecking thing again in part two. And if there's two or more of them, they always do it at separate times!!!

You know who you are and you're ALWAYS spoiling it for everyone else!
