A few people predicted this midway through the season with his rants about Newcastle, etc. He was SO desperate, too desperate, a few people did think he was so desperate to win because it was going to be his last.

I think Mourinho will come in. After his behaviour at Old Trafford this season and his 'friendship' with SAF going into overdrive this season, I think he'll come in.

It doesn't fit with Mourinho saying he wants to go somewhere where he'll be loved, but he's the only real option.

If they appoint Moyes, they'll be lucky to finish top four. And I'm not joking.

Hmm not if he remains in advisory role or something. I can certainly see Moyes being their coach and bacon advising him for an year perhaps. We'll see.

He's loved by the arse licking British media and maybe he's spoken to the United board and knows they love him. United fans were clapping him as he was walking off early from the match, plus he couldn't have been less obvious in the post-match interview about how much he didn't want to upset anyone connected to United.

Can't see it being anyone but Mourinho.

It's also Mourinho's way to say a big "fuck off" to Abramovic because i can't see how they will have forgiven and forgotten all that went on.

Manchester United have no-one, absolutely no-one, within that club with any experience of dealign with a managerial change. Fergie has been in charge since the 1980's, the entire club is setup exactly how he likes it to be, and has been for decades. He is entwined with everything that United do, certainly from a footballing perspective. This is the biggest decision, and the biggest change, United have had to deal with since before the Premier League began. Whether they bring in Mourinho, Moyes or the permanently shorted Mike Phelan as their next manager they will be dealing with a different individual, who will have different demands, different ways of doing things and will want to buy and sell players to build his own squad. He'll want to introduce his own tactics, ways of training, ways of playing etc. This is a HUGE change for United, a change they are inexperienced with dealing with, Chelsea are constantly in flux and as such cope better with these things, United will have to learn how to do it whilst also trying to retain their title. This day was always going to come, and now it has it's up to City to capitalise on it.

So many great opportunities for disaster here.
If he goes upstairs repetition of when Busby retired.
If Jose then possibility of titles but longer term disruption and downfall.
If Moyes under Fergie then the best o the lot. Selling Shrek again! and no big time experience but hatred of City who will see them both off.
Hopefully new chie exec and new manager = clear out of backroom staff with voices such as Giggs in the baqckground.
If only Peter Swales was still with us. He could advise them how to do it properly!

Re: Slurgie **Confirmed Retired** (merged)

This is weird.

I am excited but also weirded out by him going. I've only ever known Utd with Ferguson as manager. It's gonna be very strange on derby day

Re: Slurgie **Confirmed Retired** (merged)

Mourinho or Moyes would be my guess but don't rule out someone like De Boer or Blanc

anyway, I've grown up during the Fergie era and although I'm extremely glad to see the back of him I've got to say that he has had one hell of a successful career in management and I doubt his record will ever be matched

Funny how they have announced it 3 days before the cup final to try and belittle it - we should come up with some positive PR and 'leak' it to the press on Friday to get some of the column inches back

Re: Slurgie **Confirmed Retired** (merged)

I will piss my sides if they bring Moyes in. Happy days.
