How much would Ferran cost if the interest came from Real Madrid?
Agree. There is a downside in failing to get a deal done when a player wants out. It all has to get factored in. The ideal scenario here is that we get a deal done. The price has to be right. The issue is Barca a skint and they need / and are linked with 3 or 4 players.Going rate decided by who?
55m/60m is a big profit for us, allows us to reinvest straight away and we let someone go who doesn't want to be here.
City have shown plenty of times in the past decade we aren't going to stand in the way of players to spite ourselves over a few million. Its better to cut the cord and move forward. It certainly hasn't held us back!
But we wouldn't be replacing him (like for like at least). The short answer, because it would cost more than 70m to replace him.

I dont see them being able to pay £50+. Any less than £50m is not enough. The lad might have to stick with us.

Even if you think his contribution warrants 70m and we get less, that also doesn’t matter. We have more than 70m to spend if we want to. The books are balanced. Cash in transfers doesn’t need to be balanced. Sell Torres for £45m. Book a tidy £30m accouting profit plus wage savings and reinvest.
Also, all the signs are that he was about to seriously push on in the CF role. He is banging them in for fun at international level, and even started the season well for us too, before picking up his injury. Last season he simply went through what all our attacking recruits under pep seem to in their initial 12 months. It's not about what he gives us right now. While injured.
Txiki literally is Director of Football, which means he is in charge of the footballing operations at the club. So of course he is going to be the one to be blamed. Im sure there are others too but Txiki is the figurehead of the footballing side.My point wasn’t about city being good sellers or not. I’m asking why only Txiki gets the blame? He isn’t the only one negotiating transfers.
also, unhappy Grealish? Since when? He had the opportunity to win trophies and play in the best team in the world, he wasn’t going to turn that down. We had no choice but to pay the £100m. Simple
