Txiki literally is Director of Football, which means he is in charge of the footballing operations at the club. So of course he is going to be the one to be blamed. Im sure there are others too but Txiki is the figurehead of the footballing side.

"we had no choice but to pay £100m" we absolutely had a choice, which was not to pay stupidly inflated price for a player who was playing in championship 3 years ago.
this is absolutely not true. there are 3 hierarchical layers for a transfer to go through in our club.

Txiki ---> Soriano ---> Khaldoon the ultimate decision always lies with Khaldoon

Txiki, Ferran, Omar, Pep and Khaldoon all make up the transfer committe at City. Joint decision to buy, sell or loan players. This is pretty well known.

We paid what we had to for Grealish because we wanted him and he had a set price. What difference does it make, im sure we can pay the electric bills.

What we paid for Grealish has no relevance to Torres. Like how buying Kompany for 8m made no difference when we went and paid 40m for Mangala.

Have we missed this guy at all? We are far better without him anyway
Goes missing in most games And pep doesn’t trust him in the big matches
This was supposed to be his big season after a season to settle in. And he hasn’t had that time yet

Why do English clubs pay a premium for English players but Spanish clubs get a Spanish discount

Have I missed something, or why is everyone so certain Ferran is desperate to get out? Has any reliable source (which does not include Catalan media) reported on it? If no, why would we sell him for a price which is basically half of what it would cost us to buy him from another club today? To me it seems like he would be open to leave, but he could also be open to stay.

Probably a mixture of home grown rules, limited amount of English players actually good enough and also mostly every single prem club has more money in the bank than the Spaniards excluding Real combined because of TV rights etc.

We paid £20m for Torres and 20m for David Silva because Valencia were on their arse, that is a bit of a discount no?

Surely people don't really believe that Txiki is doing some sort of under the table discount to Barca here. Maybe Txiki put Ferran in his luggage when they went to see Sergio last week?
Barca are going to get away with paying nothing!!!

If it goes through at 50/60m it is more than double what we paid initially. Forget this "mystical" figure that some are putting on his head, it doesn't exist. He is in the middle of a long term injury, is agitating for a move it seems and has the chance to lead the line for Barcelona so its all piling up.

The club are going to do what they see best and that will be that, I am sure when we get Haaland or Vlahovic nobody will be arsed about Torres bagging in the Europa for Barcelona next season.

Not saying you are wrong, but do we have any reliable source saying he really is agitating for a move, or are we all just believing Catalan media, perhaps the least trustworthy news outlet in the world, when they say this? Its a huge difference between being open to a move, or agitating for it. At least to me. I assume I must have missed something?

If he is not, I cant really see any reason to accept a €45M bid since he could still do a job for us right now, have a lot of potential and several years left on his contract. Its not like his value would drop if we would keep him another 18 months, he is a 21 year old regular starter for Spain. Just last season he had a considerably better goal/min ratio than Vlahovic, if you exclude penalties.

If he is forcing his way out, well that's another story. F*ck him then and take whatever money we can get:)

Basically because he hasn't denied wanting to leave. And neither has Pep.

Whether he is open to stay or not, he is under contract for 3.5 more years, so he stays. Unless Barcelona tempt us with an appropriate transfer fee. Which different media outlets will say different things about but really nobody knows.
