Feyenoord(A) - Post Match Thread

What a week that was, but by winning the title on the 14th it gained much more grandeur and meaning. The 14th of may is the day we were bombarded by the Germans in the second world war (totally uncalled for, we had already capitulated). You can just hear the people holding in their breath at the 1-0.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the city, it's quite different from the usual Dutch cities.

Great to hear you guys could actually enjoy a beer in the area of the stadhuisplein without any problems, normally that is the area were some knobheads are looking for a fight.

I also saw the youth league match of both teams, you guys have some quality coming up through the academy, the striker and the right winger were class acts. Here are the highlights from that match:

I watched the bekerfinale there a couple years ago.

Thanks for the highlights.

If you think about the number of times we got dicked by refereeing decisions (Luiz on Aguero, Milner on Sterling, Walker on Sterling etc) in big games last season, thank about how the points different between us, Spurs and Chelsea and the difference those decisions made, and factor into the equation the point that Bravo was a shambles, player for player we were a lot closer to the top two last season than the league table would have suggested. I completely agree that we are probably ahead of them now. If we were away at Chelsea tomorrow, I would be pretty confident of beating them.
Well we will be away to them at the end of the month so you won't have long to wait to see if we can beat them. Personally I believe a draw is the best we can hope for but you never know.

Ground was fine, no one expects luxury if you're on a European away . It wasn't a shithole , it was an old school football ground . If you want shithole ,big grounds...... join us in Napoli in November . City did quiten the masses with early goals but their fans never gave up on their team . DIdnt see the ground emptying with 10 minutes to go , unlike somewhere closer to home . The whole Feyenoord trip ticked all the boxes....Dutch were as good as gold wherever you went, beer and food was spot on, travel was easy, special train to Rotterdam and Amsterdam from outside the game afterwards . And great away support . Good to see other Blues enjoying the Rotterdam trip.

Agree with all that mate, their fans stayed on, although they were obviously shell shocked by half time. If that had been our place half the stadium would've left. I thought the away support was outstanding and I've not heard us that load and proud in ages, with limited numbers. The home fans in front of us looked pretty amazed at what we were dishing out to them, but respectfully took it on the chin.

Quality trip, great sing-off with Feyenoord on the tram from town to the stadium "hate man united" in a Steve McClaren accent is hilarious. Did anyone see the Millwall lad outside near the walkbridge, giving it large and obviously felt "affiliated" to Feyenoord in some way. Knobhead.

Love the dutch and the way they watch their football.

I hope you are right. For me it's too soon to say. I am excited about what I have seen and with the players we have bought but we have to be very strong defensively to succeed with the way Guardiola plays. Any weakness will be exposed as our defenders have to defend one on one. If Stones comes through then that will be hugely significant, but at the moment I'd still have question marks about Otamendi, Stones, and of course Kompany's injury history. Can we really be successful with defensive weakness? Obviously we cannot, but you may think that their is not much to worry about there? Stones and Otamendi for me struggled last season although they were very exposed by weak full backs.

Chelsea away will be a test. Liverpool could have been but the game was altered by the sending off.

How long are you going to continue to peddle this myth that the game changed with the sending off?

We were already one up, Jesus should have squared a ball to make it 2 and from the resulting corner Stones should have scored, they had one chance saved by Eddie before the sending off, 1.

We were the better side after the first 15 minutes which was a bit scrappy, sending off changed nothing, they were getting battered with 10 or 11.

Just ignore Marvin - he'd find negativesin a flow of electrons.
