Although clubs qualify for the CL on merit, you can guarantee a number will always qualify as they are so powerful in their domestic leagues, so really no difference
The only league where there is real jeopardy is the prem. However, UEFA are creating a loophole so that a club that isn't good enough to qualify will be awarded a place

I would say the death of football in England was the wealth of the Premier league vs the championship. Throw in champions league money and the prem is a league within a league

I understand where you’re coming from Saddleworth2. In fact my doctor rang me this morning and at the end of our conversation he mentioned City (he knows my allegiance and always mentions them!) and his take on it was that it won’t happen! So maybe there can be some more twists and turns. However it doesn’t take away the bitter taste I’m afraid. :-(
:-) My smiles are weak today! But the only people I’m annoyed with...well actually flaming angry with, are the powers that be at the top of our club who I’ve always had the greatest admiration for until now!




You see, even today, in an anger like I haven’t felt for years, I cannot use the swear words I would love to use!!!

I would rather be angry with the clubs that have engineered this and then handed us a no win option. United and Liverpool in particular. I’m sorry you feel so bad but I hope for some movement on this and or maybe some comms from the club which explains their position. The game isn’t over until it’s over.

From what I've read, the Cartel (inc Us obv) had forced UEFA into accepting a back door into the CL if a 'history club' didn't qualify. Obviously this didn't satisfy the Money people and they fucked UEFA over anyway.

The new CL structure looks shit too.

However, I suppose it retains a certain amount of meritocracy and retained the connection to a stable PL.
