'City is something I want to do, yes! But it is difficult for me to move my family abroad' says Ajax coach

.
Ajax boss Frank de Boer last night admitted that he wants to succeed Roberto Mancini at Manchester City – but not this summer.

De Boer is on his way to third Dutch league title in as many seasons and his plans could now mean Manchester City keep hold of Mancini this summer as they wait for the Dutchman to become available.

De Boer said: “Manchester City is something I want to do, yes! But it is difficult for me to move my family abroad at the moment. I have to consider others, not just myself.”

Ajax director Marc Overmars said: “Am I worried? Not for losing Frank now, but City will be a big competitor for his signature in the near future.”

And the Blues’ director Txiki Beguiristain is said to be a big fan of De Boer’s coaching style and Cruyff football vision which he has brought to Ajax, who dumped Manchester City out of the Champions League earlier this season.

If I don't see the actual Questions asked I take that interview with a massive pinch of salt!

It desn't matter what the question is, we now know that De Boer is interested in being City manager at some point & that Ajax also know it, which is all the headline is claiming. That is interesting.

99% of other managers would love the city job it's a none story!

Noticed Pellegrini representatives have moved on to speculating he is of to Chelsea!

Why the FUCK would we switch Mancini for an unproven manager like de Boer?

We wont. He is just one of about 20 managers we are getting to replace Mancini according to the press over the last few months.

It doesn't say he is about to replace Mancini now, but how is he unproven, having already won two titles & possibly about to win a 3rd ?

If they do go for DeBoer one day, it could be because they are trying to implement the same system they did at Barca, originally designed by Cruyff, & using high numbers of academy produced players.<br /><br />-- Sun Apr 14, 2013 8:37 am --<br /><br />

Which other managers have said in public that they hope to one day become City's manager, other than Uwe Rosler ?

Those other managers have not been interviewed and asked the relative question...

No, not one of them, only DeBoer. Never Mourinho or Moyes or anyone else, just DeBoer.

Mancini will be with us next season IMO, none story.

It doesn't say anything to suggest that won't be the case, just a manager, who has been linked with City, confirming that he is interested in becoming City manager, & his club confirming that they think City will try to take him in the near future.

If a current title winning manager & his club both linking him to the City job is a non story, then all football related stories are non stories & there is no point in this transfer forum existing or the media even bothering to report anything other than match reports.

Agreed! Somewhat unusual comment by de Boer - how often do you hear managers in his situation say this kind of thing? It's very rare. Interesting..very interesting.

(Incidentally, I certainly don't think it means Mancini is off this summer, but it does suggest the club are thinking actively about replacements in the medium term)
