Frank Lampard..

Re: Frank Lampard to NYCFC?

But if we sell Rodwell, and Lampard goes after 6 months then we have to buy a midfielder in January unless we loan Rodwell for 6 months and then call him back. But would anyone take Rodwell for just 6 months?

I make 29players on the squad......31 if you include Mangala and Lampard.......would we need to loan out/sell 6 players to fit into the 25 registered players rule??

Easy.

Wright not registred.
Richards, Guidetti, Sinclair and Garcia sold, or at least attempted to be sold.
One of Zuculini/Rodwell lent/sold, depending on which one of them.
One of Nastasic/Rekik lent out for one season.

Rekik are both B list/Under 21 you can have a trillion of them if you want!!

Re: Frank Lampard to NYCFC?

Good for both parties really if it's true. Lampard stays fit and we could use him in some of the cup games and as a late sub to give Yaya a rest.

Re: Frank Lampard to NYCFC?

At Chelsea and age 36 his lack of mobility was exposed in their midfield two.

However, at ourselves with The Fernands and Yaya to do the running alongside him his passing range from deep will fit us like a glove.

Re: Frank Lampard to NYCFC?

Lampard, even at 36,is a winner,he'll want to prove a point.....this move will reinvigorate him imo,and we'll have ourselves a very useful option. His experience around the gaff can only benefit us.

What point does he have to prove?

He could've took a pay cut and either stayed on at Chelsea or gone to another prem club. He chose to play in the MLS.

Rather just not send Zuculini out on loan and give him games here instead.

The 4th choice CM (Zuculini/Lampard) will end up getting 20/25 games next season with injuries/African cup of nations.
Rely on injuries to give Zuculini the game time he needs?

I know they're Arsenal fans but I imagine it's a general cockney reaction

Not a case of hoping for injuries, they're a cert to happen anyway. How many midfielders get through a full season in England without missing games?

We're in 4 comps, he'd get plenty of games.
