Gabriel Jesus rejects new contract offer - The Times

I have always felt a bit indifferent about Jesus personally... it's odd as he is class but there is something about him as a player that I dislike, I have always thought he was a clever buy as we got him cheap and if he has a good World Cup we could move him on for mega money, it almost feels like himself and the club knew that from the outset. I hope he proves me wrong and stays for 10 years!

Gabby is pep’s number one striker! Unfortunately he got injured so much but when everyone is fit gabby will start. New deal will get done before the World Cup imo

At 50, and after supporting City for 44 years, in which I've attended somewhere around 750 games, this will be my last season!

And why?; well it is because of the modern day footballers like Jesus and Sterling, coupled with their agents. I simply can no longer stand anything that modern football offers. Whether it's the player's ego, the agent's greed, pationless sanitised stadia, ridiculous kick off times, media saturation and the business philosophy and commercialism of it all, it's simply extinguished my fire for the game.

This from someone, who at the age of 12, often used to walk for 2 hours to attend games at Maine Rd, just so I could save my bus fare to ensure I could buy both a match programme and then a football pink once I was back home. That's the pation I once had for City, fuelled by the mystique, that our club could once generate within me!

My only consolation I suppose is that whatever he earns, and whoever he plays for in the future, it won't be funded by me.

Almost deserves its own thread this one.

I'm not going to have a go at what you said because the modern game irritates us all and for various reasons. The game stinks at times, but then again it peaks it is wonderful ! I take the rough with the smooth, I don't read papers about opinionated football, don't have sky sports shit on my tv, if I watch city on tv half the time I turn the volume down.
I cant think of a game I have watched this season where city haven't played, I go to all the home games and probably 60% of away games and prefer to watch my football live forming my own opinion rather than listening to over paid one sided pundits.

The most irritating for me are the agents, what the fuck went on for those cluntz to start dominating the games transfer market. A player decides to leave the club he is at and doesn't actually go to the club he wants or the club most suited, its all in the hands of the agents and best fee.

I am same age myself mate, but adapted to the times and changes and feel privileged to be witnessing the best football I have ever seen, some of worlds best players, in one of the best stadiums in the country ( even better when we can legally stand )

Anyhow about Gabriel. He is the sort of player that you can feel at times drifts out of the game, but when he is on song and fit ( he has been unlucky and when he comes back its 3 or 4 games before he is up to speed ) he is a handful for the opposition. He often surprises me when he is having a good game how often he gets back and wins the ball in defence. When he goes forward he finishes a big percentage of his chances, very dangerous in the box when he has the ball because nobody knows what he will do next.

If he stays a few more years brilliant as we got him for a good price, if he does leave eventually we will double our money at least. Winner all round.

This is just part of a usual pay negotation. Jesus wants to delay till after the World Cup and City want to get it done now for obvious reasons. We'll see what happens but my gut feeling is that at just 20 Jesus will lead the line for Brazil and be one of the stars of the tournament. His value will increase hugely so City will have to pay up or lose him. Those slagging him off should read Sergio's book and see the sort of dire poverty some of these South American youngsters are trying to escape from before making judgements.

He's on a relatively low wage ATM. Asked the club to be paid as Lingard (100k p/w), and City refused.

You're all heart!

;-)

Haha, it is funny though. Only at City would fans be so eager to "leave" the club at it's most successful period. Some on this forum just beggar belief.

"Young promising player waits until after major international tournament before negotiating a new deal"
'right that's it, i'm off. This modern football isn't for me, i preferred the old days when we were shit'

Couldn't make it up!

:)

Yaya said in his interview that Gabriel was not happy with his playing time and he had to give him a pat on the back, part of the reason why he has not renewed maybe ? But then again when he's not been injured he had played a lot

I think he needs to play every week now to reach his potential, but the problem is he's not done enough to bench Aguero every week.

He needs to start comimg up with some match winning performances that force Pep's hand, otherwise he'll have to accept things the way they are.
