Yeah that will be the catch. If Real decides to bale on the deal, Platini will be poking down White hart lane.

Re: Gareth Bale

The Independent ran a story this morning with a headline saying the rags were about to join the chase for Bale but the article then contradicted this and said a bid was unlikely.

It could just be that they want to force the Bale deal through so they've got a clearer idea of who they can fail to get next.
They might still believe Ronald-0 might return if he's not the biggest name at Madrid. It might also force others to move rather than risk missing targets by leaving things until the last minute.

More likely Spurs are using the Rags to flush out the right bid from Madrid.

I just read on the DailyMail that Levy is dragging the negotiations with Real for Bale because he wants to sign all the players they'll need to build the team and replace Bale first before selling Bale because if he sells Bale first and then tries to sign players, clubs we'll bleed them dry. Quoted from Redknapp.

If that's true, then that's some shrewd business.
Not if Real Madrid move on to another player.

I think that Madrid could very easily walk away from the deal If Ronaldo signs a new contract. Also not forgetting they have just bought Isco as well. Di Maria is still there too. They are not in a desparate state of affairs, and lets be honest, the 100 million that is being quoted is obscene for a player who has only had one really good season.
