They can't afford a transfer fee of 60+ million. What are they going to do? ''Have Nike help fund the deal for them'' again. Bullshit. Fabregas is a no-go either. Moyes should stick to realistic targets like Fellaini and Baines and stop wasting valuable time trying to attract unattainable targets, whilst very decent players are transferred to other clubs. Could really backfire on Moyes and United.
Spurs need a striker though, and can offer Rooney plus £30m...which they can afford.

But without Bale they have no shot at CL, which is what they are shooting for. Spurs already turned down Madrid's 60m offer. So why would they accept the same money they turned down and have him go to a rival? Makes no sense.

Utd remain utd and players will want to play there sadly.

Had a chat with Graham Hunter . He said United would have signed Thiago , had baconface stayed there or they hired Guardiola.

Moyes is like the ugly fat bird at the disco...only those desperate and cheap enough took her home..

-- Thu Jul 18, 2013 6:49 pm --

Spurs wouldn't entertain a player swap for Bale. Anyone interested has to be prepared to meet their full valuation.

Is it 80mill or a 100mill ??

Probably.

cheers.

Think people already have nail on head here... Yoonited making it look like they are in for top names when they know they have no chance.

Talkshite are trying to say Rooney, Nani and £15M for Bale.
That would be a terrible deal for Spurs and great one for the rags. They get rid of two players they don't want who are on big money and get Bale for a pittance.
Won't happen though, unless Levy is a complete prick.
That was a caller who suggested that on drive time.

Bale is worth 100m to Spurs in my view but he would not be worth half that to anyone signing him and that's the problem I can't see it being worth to another club what he is worth to spurs. Felt the same about Cavani I think without him it'll be Bue bye champs league and quite possibly bud bye 100m. But for me as a signing club 35m max is what he is worth

They won't sing Bale, they won't sign Ronaldo, they won't sign Farbregas, and they won't sign Messi.

This is all an orchestrated plan by them to maintain the illusion that they still have the same pull for the World's best players that they did when Ferguson was in charge.

The facts here, despite all the fabricated, Sky-sponsored Bale and Ronaldo bullshit, are that they have bid for three players so far - Baines (which was rejected by Everton), Thiago (which they spent some time trying to get a bargain on, before the player jumped at Bayern as soon as they firmed up their interest) and Fabregas (which was pitched too low so it wouldn't be accepted, and which neither the player nor Barcelona were interested in anyway).

This is a testing time for the Rags, as they need their Shareholders on the New York Stock Exchange to keep the faith with them, and not sell en masse to invest elsewhere - this is what the Glazers care about above all else, and this is what the Glazer appointed Chairman Ed Woodward is trying his best to ensure.

They will most likely sign Baines and Fellaini, who are very good players and will address areas of their team which need addressing, thus making them stronger - but no-one over in New York will have the first clue who those two are. They will, however, know exactly who Rooney is, and that he wants to leave. Consequently the Rags are putting it about through their favoured channels that they are in for all these super names, whilst trying to bring in the players they actually want.

They're so transparent at the moment its getting embarrassing, but people need to ignore the Sky reports and Daily Fail articles, and look at what's actually going on at the Rags so far this summer - that will tell you all you need to know.

Truly excellent post, could of hit the nail on the head completely.

Does anyone else get the impression that United are on the verge of an implosion this coming season? I do believe that they are looking for a marque signing, but just don't have funds or are getting rejected(Thiago/Strootman).

I can see them ending up 3rd or 4th in the league, and then will spend big next summer.

Neither of those would've been marquee signings. United will buy, but whether they buy better than we have is under question, I mean who is there really?
It would be foolish to write them off though to be honest. They will be up there, though it would be piss funny to see them 5th or below.

I keep pondering that billboard in New York of him advertising the Prem games on TV....

Putting 2 and 2 together, he's not a worldwide name so is he on there as he's coming to us to excite our franchise fans?

Probably bollox but just a thought especially seeing how bad Sinclair was last night he's not even a squad player.

I agree, Sinclair was very poor, and was given the full 90 minutes too, it's just a pity Pellegrini wasn't there to see it. Kolarov kept trying his trademark "chop" and gave away the first goal too, another one that needs to leave. The defence looked pretty steady in the centre though, but the lack of pace apart from Vinny does stand out a mile. Nastasic isn't especially quick, but he is intelligent enough to know were he should position himself to deal with attacking threats. As for Garcia and Lescott, they looked steady enough, but I wouldn't like to go into a Champions League game with both of them in defence.

You can never write them off, but this is the first year i have a feeling they could possibly finish 3rd or even worse... It's great fun watching the goings on at the Swamp now, and other clubs can see it too and seem to be strengthening accordingly...

Wouldn't be too surprised if they won it, but also wouldn't be too surprised if they finished 5th. Can't wait for this season to start!!!

Not accoring to whatever radio show I was listening to where they were interviewing the American public and some 'expert' marketing people.

Yeah I reckon Bale's on NY times square to excite your American fans, good shout.

Seriously?!?!

If he leaves this summer, I'd genuinely bet my life on it to being an overseas club. Unless your planning on offering 100m+ we'll be able to get upwards of 60m from Real Madrid for a start.

Why would Levy sell to a rival club for less money?

And why would Bale suddenly ditch the dream of playing abroad with the challenge of adapting to a new league, as well as experiencing a new culture to instead move to Manchester; Having to uproot his family including a very young daughter when he actually seems to be quite settled and enjoying himself at his current club despite how desperately the media want it to be otherwise.

No i mean you're right why would he put himself in a position where he is actually udner pressure to perform and win things on more money when he can be adored and finish fifth i mean isnt that what every single player wants to live in london and be at the third best london club what a great ambition.

Now im sorry to be condescending but to be fair you started it.
