Cook appointed Hughes and Macintosh had already gone.

Thaksin sold the club and was still had a position of sorts on the board after the second takeover, and so did not do a runner.

Cook had nothing to do with getting the Siekhs what so ever. If memory serves me right there was deal maker some female ex accountant who set the whole deal up. They found us Cook was Franks employee who came with the furniture.

he got the club in the shape to make it attractive

By buying Jo? He had hardly been there five minutes.

I don't think a thread about his resignation should be merged with one on his legacy.

As for his legacy, I genuinely believe that 90% of the good things he has achieved would not be beyond anyone on this forum. To praise Garry Cook does a disservice to the chairman and owner.

I know he's told a lot of fans what they want to hear (the same way Thaksin did), but look at the wage structure, look at the enemies he's made, look at the way the club's name has been dragged through the mud. Well done will always be better than well said. And for all his demagoguery and buying some gullible bloke a pint, I can't help but feel this is a good day for the club.

Flipping 'eck.... surely saying that the owner and chairman have been paying somebody 1.5m a year for doing things that 90% of this forum are capable of, is doing them a disservice.

That depends, very much, on who replaces him.

Cook offered his resignation; the club accepted.

Which is the polite way of sacking someone....otherwise the club would have rejected his resignation.

Yeah, I know. I was refering to the 'otherwise we're in trouble' statement at the end of the sentence - alluding to the fact that Cook may try and seek some sort of recompense for unfair dismissal?
No, mate. My point was a witch-hunt over a mis-sent e-mail should not cost our CEO his job. I hope he was sacked because the club saw it as an appropriate opportunity to get someone else in and move the club on in a way Cook couldn't. Otherwise it's open season on us.

I agree! I started that and its a different aspect entirely from his departure.

i was unfortunate enough to work for a large multi PLC a few years ago, and we had 3 MD's in 4 years...an absolute nightmare, with in fighting, bitching, office politics and worse of all was the lack of direction or constant changing of goalposts

what started it all?........each new md wanted to bring in their own personell and staff

hope this doesnt rock the boat too much, but i can see at least 2 or 3 others following and a lot of new faces

Very disappointed he's gone and disgusted with how Sky report it. No mention of 11 months and only mention "mockery of cancer" which it definitely wasnt imo. It was a ribbing of a colleague. And jibes about past offenses and shameful acts. What are they on about? Is it shameful to claim we'll be the best club in the world kn the near future? Fuckin wankers. Mrs Onouha should be ashamed above all. What a sensitive soul - people forget she is a fuckin agent. I wonder how she speaks and writes about people in her own circle? I'm sure it's not all sugar and spice. Hypocrite surely.

Anyhow he should have owned up (presuming he sent it).

I used to like Onouha as I did Barton before he started trouble. Onouha may not have stunned a cigar out in someone's eye but he has allowed his agent to Make an obviously vengeful attack on the club. He would want to fire his agent or fuck off elsewhere. Sit him on the bench for the reserves til he decides I'd say. For an intelligent bloke he ain't half stupid.
