Gas & Electricity

Loads of residents and businesses are robbing their gas and electric. It’s dangerous but pretty easy to do. The tenants I come across who do this don’t get prosecuted, they just get new meters fitted and repeat. There’s gonna be more of this and more fires and gas explosions and people electrocuted as a result.

In 2021, fuel companies received $8.2bn in tax bailouts.

Shell, Chevron, BP & Exxon meanwhile netted a record-breaking $75bn in profits.
These companies then bought over $6.6bn of their shares back and expected to purchase $22bn in 2022.
I’d imagine that last figure is now much much higher.

Government still nowhere to be seen.……..

Mind you, there’s probably a few ministers/MP’s hosting energy company lobbying groups and vigorously opposing any measures to correct this imbalance.

That’s doesn’t sound right, your standing charges alone would be about £20 so £42 in 30 days are you not turning anything on having a shower or bath? Who is that with?

I shower at home maybe 3 days a week. Rest of the time I'm showering at the gym. I work in office basically full time so using little to no power at home for computers etc during the day.

Just two of us in the house.

140 kWh of electricity in a month equates to 2800 kWh per year. That’s pretty normal if there’s only 2 of you in the house and is similar to my latest annual usage figures. So nothing really untoward about that bill. Remember though that the really big price rises are still to come and electricity is going to go through the roof as well as gas.

Fair enough that’s pretty good, unfortunatel/fortunately there are two of us at home all day now, so our usage is a lot more, I have quick showers now and tbh we are quite good with what we use but the prices revises will be a bastard anyway.

I do wonder how many businesses will close due to the rise in the utilities or push people to work from home again so their bills aren’t as much.
