Gas & Electricity

Well here down under we have a massive shortage of skilled and unskilled workers, numbers of immigrants is going to be seriously upped very soon the Gov have announced, there are more job vacancies than people on the dole.

So you can all come here :). Yes we do have a public health system called medicare for which we pay 1.5% of our wages.

It's winter here, Darwin today is 31deg... Cairns 28deg...Brisbane is 22deg... Sydney 18deg... Melbourne 16deg... Hobart 14deg so you can see the further south you go the cooler it gets BUT, nobody is freezing their balls off. :)

Plus the state Gov will pay a lot towards your solar panels on your roof, being as there are lots of sunny days you can sell leccy back to the grid !!!

A bit far to get to the match lol.

I was in Aussie in1985 working onboard the QE2 on its world cruise. Off the top of my head, Sydney, Hobart, Freemantle, Perth, Melbourne and Adelaide.

There are pro's and cons to everything I guess :) I do miss going to watch City.

Yes it has its faults but is still generally a good day out. We had a kid at school, John Grimshsw who was City mad. His family emigrated to Oz about 1970, I often wonder if he's still there

Bit off topic @Bill Walker , but I have relatives in Perth WA, and plan on visiting in July/Aug 2024 (lads summer hols). I’m thinking of spending a couple of weeks somewhere warmer such as Darwin prior to heading down to Perth…….any recommendations on travel/hotels etc.

No idea where you live in Oz but any advice appreciated.

Malaysia has a huge oil and gas industry, I am fairly sure they are a net exporter. In fact I think much of the public sector is funded by the money that Petronas brings in, hence it's also a low tax economy. Hopefully will be out there next year at some point enjoying Char Kway Teow and other delights, assuming I can still afford the flights!
Just did a quick Google and yeah, they're pretty big in gas. Oil not so much. The UK is the opposite. Both have fuck all in the way of coal.

I'm having to fly via Saudi Arabia this Christmas because flights were so expensive. 550 quid. The next cheapest were all over 800.

Perth is a bit chilly in July, high teens, maybe 18deg or so.
If you want to go somewhere warm I'd recommend Cairns. There's more to do that Darwin, it's more touristy.
You can visit the Great barrier Reef, Whitsunday Islands, Cairns has a really nice vibe. (Do the cable car to Kuranda Train Station).
Lots of good hotels in Cairns as well as self catering apartments.

Most of us fly in Oz as its as big as America. Jetstar seems best prices for domestic flights........... Although Bonza is now advertising the cheapest flights.

kelvin Mackenzie saying there has to be pain

He is a useful idiot for the tories. Funny that the govt had money to pay out huge contracts to their mates during Covid.

I've seen plenty of comments from tory baby boomers on twitter telling us to tighten our belts. Typical tory response from Giffords. They are middle class sheep who are happy to act like c*nts all in support of tories whilst helping the UK's richest (a wealth these middle class Giffords would never reach) get richer at the cost of themselves.
