Gas & Electricity

I've actually taken to sitting in the car for half an hour in the morning while I let the heaters de-ice our motors.

I've told the wife it's to make sure nobody drives off with them, but it's actually to keep warm and listen to Heart Xmas on the radio.

Been sat in here 20 minutes and the air temp is minus six.

Warmer than inside the house!

The bills in Jan for the Dec usage will be frightening, exceptional cold snap and many people being off work between Xmas and the New year.

The last 4 days have seen my usage double on the smart meter, not helped with the missus being off work sick and having the heating on around the clock.

It’s shite isn’t it, we’re sitting layered up while in the house and it’s a nice experience to accompany the wife to the garden centre to look at the Christmas stuff as the cad journey is toasty warm..

What a shit show eh

What I found amusing is that when your job takes you out of the house for over half the week, you only ever use one room 90% of the time, don't have heating on and unplug everything you don't need when you're not in the home, the leccy company send you a letter saying 'based on your usage, we've dropped your rates... by 15p'!!!

Oh, how I laughed...

Regrettably my one jumper hasn't been seen since 2018. I'm now using layers that I would usually wear whilst trekking in the Himalayas. It's manageable but dreading a bill for the alternative. The situation will change drastically next year and I feel almost every avenue is Desperate Street. I feel for the elderly with little and the retired with nothing.

I'm lucky, by the time I retire, climate change will have eradicated winter and we'll all be migrating to the Shetlands for cooler weather.

Impressive work.

I imagine the sale of long johns, hats n gloves will go through the roof this year whilst we sit at home in them. Think I’ll ask for a hot water bottle for Christmas this year.

This week is going to absolute smash my bill, I was still wearing shorts outside on monday but Ive got a 3month old at home so had the heating on for about 7hrs yesterday.

We’ve had ours on for 12 hours a day at 19 degrees costing us about £6/7 which I don’t think is that bad in the grand scheme of what’s going on, my wife works from home so the cash we save on petrol goes towards it. We knocked it down from 20 to 19 degrees and it does make a cost difference and it’s negligible on how it feels. Like others have said just stick it in what are they going to do when millions can’t/won’t pay? It’s fucking freezing at the moment and going to get worse the next week!

12 hours a day at 19 degrees just put a jumper on haha. Heating has been on 2 hours were still at 14 degrees and the bathroom at 6.4. I work from home but use blankets I'd tell the mrs to fuck off if she tried putting the heating on for 12 hours and my rate is 0.298 atm.

Has anyone had their December winter fuel payment yet?

It's hit my pre-paid meter on the first in November and October but still not had it yet for this month
Did this get sorted for you bud?

My 3rd one just went in today so that's the 7th, 9th & the 9th (my billing date is the 1st but don't know if that's relevant) so EDF are consistent so far.
