My standing charges are now almost
a £1 a day before I throw a switch.
How much were they before? I don’t get why they are going up

Guaranteed income for the energy firms that need to pay off incorporating the failed former energy companies. How much were they before? I don’t get why they are going up

A fucking scam.
Yeah. The companies wouldn’t have taken on the cost of enveloping the customers from the failed companies otherwise, I guess. So basically poor regulation in the first place leads to higher bills for all.
Yep, now the REAL reason they want everyone on smart meters is starting to become clear to more and more people.Shell Energy belled me up on Friday to try and install smart meters sent them packing, push comes to shove I'll rig the meter but still on 3p per kwh for a year thank god.
The oil fields are nationally owned. The oil cos pay a gov fee for every barrel extracted or for a licence to do it. And they pay an additional ‘North Sea’ tax. How much? No idea. The trouble is the government has totally fooked up.
We have let our gas storage facilities fall into disrepair, we still produce nearly 60% of our gas needs but not enough thought or resources has been spent on ensuring our energy needs can be met by opening new gas fields which we have in the North Sea.
The whole climate change has blinded the government who have not planned properly for a move away from fossil fuels and the big companies who explore new gas fields haven’t bothered for years as gas prices were low.
Why hasn’t vat on energy been quashed and why are we all still paying the green levy during these times. We exported gas to Europe during the summer as we had insufficient storage so why are the monies received from the gas used to offset our prices?
It’s sick that the big companies are making insane profits. We should cap there profits for the next 2 years or so and freeze the cost of gas etc or call a national emergency and re nationalise our oil fields if the big firms don’t play ball
