only turn heating on when kids are home and its needed, 20 quid last month.
I get that, but it's highly likely these works are planned months in advance. Let's say there's a prolonged cold snap, the work doesn't get done. The whole project gets put back months or even years. That's not a good scenario either. And if it happens to be really cold during that period, let's give a thought to the poor buggers who are actually out there carrying the improvement work for us.Just a wild hunch but probably when its not -3c outside?
The standing charge is an outrage and VAT is charged on it too. I'm surprised there's not more of a public outcry that the first £300+ of our energy bills each year pay for not a single kWH of energy. But it's not so much the companies but the last government who established this "market". I still remember Kwasi Kwarteng being proud that the market was working "as it should".My bill is in , first one with ovo fixed
Used £24 elec , standing charges £16
£16 is a joke , for low users like me it makes a huge difference
Gas i used nothing as i switched off the boiler a while ago as it is old and playing up , standing charge £8
Energy companies are scum
Spring 2025 - as I said in my post. When would you like the upgrade work to take place?
Yes probably planned months in advance - yet they only think it necessary to give residents less than 2 weeks notice of the start date.I get that, but it's highly likely these works are planned months in advance. Dont know if youve got a house or are in a flat surrounded by other ones or wotnot. If youve got a house just be careful, they need airing and warming or damp dramas will happenonly turn heating on when kids are home and its needed, 20 quid last month.
What temperature do you live in when kids aren’t at home?only turn heating on when kids are home and its needed, 20 quid last month.

Fair enough. But if they're only doing upgrade work in the spring/summer, the upgrade project takes twice as long. Assuming they're not doing it for fun, it's better the project is carried out before there's a leak and you're potentially without gas with no warning at all when the system fails. I would have thought 2 weeks' notice is reasonable for any potential disruption. I hope it all goes well and you're not inconvenienced too much.Spring 2025 - as I said in my post.
It's a disgrace people having to live like this. I suppose that what happens when the powers that be, allow the energy companies be run by mobsters. Not sure, I’m in a terraced house and generally feels warm enough most of the time without heating , if it’s freezing and kids aren’t in I stick a couple layers on and wear my hoodie.
