Not sure judging TV debates is the way to decide this election.

Should be a simple look back and say here was your manifesto from 2019, here is where you're at, why should we believe a word going forward.
So true. They fell foul of the ultimate bullshitter that is Boris Johnson. But that year he emerged was all wrong, globally. No coincidence that Trump, Farage and Johnson were all a thing all at once in 2016. They hung their hat on that shit, put a manifesto out on it and shock, it turned to immediate shit because actually doing stuff instead of just talking about it is different, not least when everything they all said was just based on hate and nothing progressive. Since then they fell into a bucket of shit and we had to suffer a gang of idiots.

These debates are put on the telly for hobbyist idealogues, nobody is going to change their minds watching it, it's typical car crash TV.

What we seen tonight was somebody who had experience in these things against somebody who had not. Starmer lost by allowing Sunak to propagate the line that he would raise taxes by £2,000.00, which Starmer finally denied. Sunak had the upper hand and pushed the ‘Plan’ line on everything which had an effect.

Depends where you stand but in my mind, Sunak just about came out ahead but now, with experience, Starmer should make a better show and bring out the worst of Sunak.

On another note, I thought the 45 second time limit was awful and Sunak took advantage of Starmer’s naivety, continuing to bang on about the alleged tax rise from Labour while Starmer tried to follow the rules.

Very poor facilitation of the debate. For example, a couple of times Starmer was asked a question but Julie Etchingham allowed Sunak to interrupt and then when Starmer tried to speak, she cut him off.

It would be much better in these debates if they killed the microphones so only the person being asked the question can respond. ITV really are an unserious, cowboy operation.

As long as Labour win at the ballot box. We can consign tonight’s debate to the bin. Christ, how depressing. You’ve had FOURTEEN YEARS snd you still think you can blame others for your utter shiteness
Sunak: the apogee of ineptitude.

The onus is now on Labour, they have to be better than the Tories don't they?

We all lost imo

And yet:

Trustworthy: Sunak 39% / Starmer 49%
Likeable: Sunak 34% / Starmer 50%
In touch: Sunak 17% / Starmer 66%

Sunak did well: 55%
Sunak did badly: 44%

Starmer did well: 60%
Starmer did badly: 40%

Cost of living: Sunak 38% / Starmer 51%
NHS: Sunak 28% / Starmer 61%
Education: Sunak 31% / Starmer 52%
Tax: Sunak 53% / Starmer 32%
Immigration: Sunak 45% / Starmer 42%
Climate change: Sunak 24% / Starmer 48%

All from the same poll that said it was a marginal win for Sunak. Apart from the fact that he got away with the £2000 tax claim far too often, it doesn't look like 'winning' actually changes people's view of Sunak.
