This is the sort of thing that politicians say. It is maddenly fact free. The fall in the number of nhs beds owes almost nothing to austerity but is driven by changes in medical practice and the move to greater care in the community. The number of beds has fallen steadily for over 30 years, roughly in line with other countries’ advanced health services.
If you were really interested in nhs issues you would consult the Kings Fund, the best source of nhs research.
See Kings Fund.org.uk.
The NHS is underfunded and badly run.

If you think it's well funded there's no hope. We probably are spending more today than 14 years ago when this lot came to power. But not relative to what's actually needed.

The only problem Labour have is it will take more than one term to right the wrongs, there is so much wrong people need to realise there isn’t a magic wand. Labour will have no idea how much is left in the pot, so they can cost all the stuff they want but there may not be the cash to do it.

It is certainly poorly run. If I were the British dictator, the first thing I would do is to set up a standing commission to study and steer the nhs and take it out of party politics, by having all shades of opinion on the commission.
As to funding, you have to decide what the limits are for an activity that has infinite demand. The only serious attempt at this is NICE, set up by Blair, which examines budget effectiveness ie what treatments should the nhs provide and not provide. Simply saying the nhs is underfunded is meaningless. Where would you increase budgets for nhs services that are “actually needed” to quote your words?

So people left on trolleys in corridor’s has nothing to do with a lack of beds? Most families have experienced this, whilst it’s true that more care is provided in the community the decline in beds has outstripped demand, just busy your local A & E to prove it to yourself, lived experience beats theory and statistics

What 3 word slogan will the Tories think up to get the great unwashed to think that voting for them is a good idea again?
No idea they appear to be in chaos, it looks like something behind the scenes forced his hand because the old duffers in the constituencies are totally unprepared many have not even got candidates to but forward
