You don't think high taxes and inflation are caused by Covid? -

Did the largest bailout ever (the banking system in 2010) cause high taxes and inflation ? No ...I thought not

You think net migration will come down under labour?

1)Labour proposed the toughest immigration laws ever ... but were blocked by Michael Howard and the Tories.

2)They might actually renationalise Border Force and staff up the immigration case workers (to a level we had prior to 2010) so we can actually deal with the issue rather than house people in hotels

Interest rates similarly high in the USA - was that caused by Truss?

Agreed.....but we're asking the wrong question .... why are interest rates held so high when the cap on bankers bonuses has been scrapped.....answers on a postcard please.

Some blinkers in your post sunshine
If anything the removal of the cap on bonuses will reduce the wage growth data of the next 6 to 9 months, if it has any impact at that is (very doubtful).

I respect that the election campaign is part of the democratic process but 6 weeks is way too long.

Has anyone changed their mind about who they are voting for in the last week?

People who are undecided are those that always decide last minute anyway so the extra couple of weeks just puts them off making a decision.

At least it's not like the US, where they've managed to create an election cycle so long that there's hardly any time left to govern.

The first Republican Presidential primary debate took place August 2023, for the Presidential term starting in January 2025. The first Biden v Trump debate is tonight. Makes 6 weeks look like a dream!

When you add in that the House of Representatives only serve 2 year terms, and the senate elects a third of its candidates every 2 years, they're in an almost constant election state.

Cynically, one might suggest that this is exactly what corporate America wants. Politicians who constantly need money to get elected, but have little time to do anything too radical once in power.
