I learned earlier that it takes 200 hours to train a Special Constable - if you do it the Sunak way a weekend once per month for a year at best you will have done 168 hours - so not even trained to the level needed to pass out. I missed conscription by a couple of years. My late father-in-law, a career soldier and RSM, once told me that he could think of nothing worse than being trapped in a trench, with a moaning, half-trained, spotty conscript who couldn't wouldn't know a 303 from his arse.
