I'll be extremely annoyed if that's the case. Where have you heard this?
It's just knocking around ont net. Walsall say they would like to sign him but other clubs are interested. The suggestion from them is that neither they nor Evans know what will happen to him when his City contract runs out. I thought he had signed a new one.

Fuck sake. If we let him go on a permanent basis then big questions have to be asked of our 'holistic' approach. Evans has done everything that has been asked of him on these loans and yet he's not been given a fair go to test himself. As already mentioned, Spurs got it right with Kane and they're smashing it with Ali. I'll be so annoyed if he's not here when Pep is.

I'd be gutted. I have no idea if George can do it at City but I know that he, like many others, deserves a chance to find out if he improves over time playing with class players.

It could be City will want to keep him. I hope so. But if that's not the case, it stinks. And of course if he then has a career playing in the lower leagues, people will say it's proof he isn't good enough. Completely failling to understand the improvement which can come from playing next to top players. Lots of 'top' young players would have disappeared without trace if not given a chance at the right time imo & I believe many have done.

Look at Deli Ali, pulling strings with Spurs.

Such a fine line between success and failure for both the player and manager alike.
In some cases players will go out on loan and excel for that particular club because of the difference in class whereas others will get dragged down to that level and lose their way by being introduced into a new system. From the managers point of view he is judged on results and trophies and fears that the introduction of youth players may be too much a risk when an open cheque book may be the immediate answer.
Personally I would love certain kids to be retained within the system with our style of play and brought through gradually to the first team squad.
As regards George Evans it appears from reports that he has progressed from his time on loan and should be given that all to elusive chance.
Fingers crossed.

I’d like him to go on with us and turn out a worldy as much as the next man but you have to be realistic. If he looks like a really good prospect for a Championship club and we are offered a couple of £m then that might be great business all round i.e. good for the player as much as it is good for the club. We have let a few high profile youngsters go over recent years: Pozo, Lopes, Hughes, Cole, Rekik, even as far back as Weiss. At this point the club made the right call on every one of those players and the money in is not insignificant.

We have some great midfield players currently with the EDS so it will be what it will be. Good luck to him wherever he ends up playing.

I think some managers actually see young players as an asset. They can help keep the squad fresh & also give the crowd & therefore the team a boost, even if it doesn't last & the player ends up moving on.I don't think either of our two recent managers has a 'feel' for that at all. Some are scared to use young players or don't know how to use them, some get young players performing above their level.

I think we have a completely unsuitable manager in charge currently, if we are to believe the 'hollistic' plan for the club. Our kids are just as 'ready' for a chance as anyone elses. The only difference is we choose to ignore them.

I read this really interesting piece on Pochettino the other day - http://twentyminutereads.com/2015/12/27/the-sheriff/

One thing that jumped out was the passage that he believes young players are invaluable to his ideas because they're easier to mould into his plans. They're more impressionable etc, and they're naturally more energetic and eager to impress. Couldn't agree more.
