No. It was a ‘PolitBarometer’ survey on 14/9 exploring the acceptance of refugees and it highlighted the difference between West and East. 62% in the West and 43% in the East. I did say 60% and 48% in my original post which may have skewed my math as it’s 43% in the East.

My calculation was that it just edged overall into acceptance. I don’t know when the survey you quote was done but I’ll take your figure if it proves to have edged the other way. It’s somewhat moot as Merkel doesn’t have the political capital to do it on the scale she did previously.

And yes there is a big difference in attitude between West and East which is the point I was making. It’s not surprising given that the East was a closed culture for decades. There is also an East German resentment towards the West to factor in which was explained to me as ‘West Germans look down on us and don’t really accept us but welcome all these foreign migrants’.

In terms of where Germans actually stand based on actual elections these take place in Bavaria in a months time.

Unless you are advocating the election is going to be run on the single issue of immigration your point is totally mute.

Lets not forget the Germans share the same language,race, religion and basic culture and wanted reunification, yet after a period of "Only" 45 years behind the iron curtain you accept its unrealistic they share western European attitudes, with an "Us and them" still present after 28 years how much more unrealistic is it that despite the warning signs of major problems with mass immigration its continued to anything but causing more serious divisions.

I think your stark fear of other people and cultures is many things but ‘enlightened’ isn’t one of them. You can’t halt immigration. People have been emigrating since we came out of Africa. You have no idea what the vast majority of refugees that have settled in Germany think or that they bitterly resent the west. Most people no matter who they are just want to live their lives and raise families in relative security. It’s not complicated. They’re just people not some alien mass with a hive mind.

You have no idea what the vast majority of refugees that have settled in Germany think or that they bitterly resent the west. Most people no matter who they are just want to live their lives and raise families in relative security. It’s not complicated. They’re just people not some alien mass with a hive mind.

Dont play the silly games bob, you know full well the difference between immigration and mass immigration so stop trying to conflate one as being the other, nor did you have any trouble generalising that east Germans resents west Germany when putting your point, an that without the countless huge public demo`s screaming "Death to the west" in their home countries over the last 50 years as an indicator.
Yes most people do want to live their lives in relative security, that includes not being blown up, stabbed, an increase of crime, their children abused and women raped, the incidents of which have gone up dramatically alongside mass immigration, and that is not just in Germany either, or are you going to get silly again and claim it a coincidence.

I did not say you dont know the difference, I know full well you do and are trying to bend one to equate the other to support an illogical argument.
Then you should be able to apply that same recognition towards the immigration problems but somehow you find issue with that.
