Goalkeeper situation summer 25

Ederson has been a great servant for the club and has the best distribution of any keeper out there, but he's off these days, never been the strongest shotstopper tbh plus he wants to go. Ortega not at the level and Carson too old to be relied on in an injury crisis. Should replace all three with:

First-choice keeper: Diogo Costa, Mike Maignan, Michele di Gregorio or Lucas Chevalier all seem like they could be world-class. No one will be as good as Ederson at pinging those long passes and showing composure on the ball, but he's a one off in that way. These guys would all be an improvement on Ederson atm though and could be a world-class no 1 for the next 5+ seasons. This will be our most important summer transfer so should be prepared to pay whatever it takes within reason

Second-choice keeper: A veteran keeper who's an improvement on Ortega but is OK playing second fiddle

Third-choice keeper: A youngster with promise

Second keeper better than Ortega? Not happening. Third-choice youngster with promise would want to play like Trafford, so not happening either, IMO.

My guess:

1st keeper: Someone new, mid-20s, like some of the guys you mentioned
2nd keeper: Ortega
3rd keeper: Someone in mid to late 30s, probably English, like Foster?

I doubt it.
Lots of opportunity to assess him when he first went to Burnley.

Chelsea showing an interest in both Kelleher and Bazunu.
 
Seen a few names on here I like, a few more obvious, however we know with city the players might be more obscure. 3 goalies I like, with good distribution and maybe a little more surprising would be in order;



Julen Agirrezabala 24 (Bilbao)

Lucas Perri 27 (Lyon)

Noah Atubolu 22(Sc Freiburg)




If anyone wants to share any opinions on these, please do, he’s young but I may just risk it all in Atubolu, something I really like about him but so young.

Also Joan Garcia and Luiz Junior on my long list.
