This new world hdcp system is shite, a won a comp the other week with a net 37, second place got a 62. Imagine getting a 62 and losing out by 25 shots.

I regularly played with a lad who was around 18 and it was genuine but one weekend he shot par 54 points, all of us were stunned. Next week he got 4 points:-)
How the hell did you shoot a net 37?

Mis type a man won it not me, he was off 54(coz you can nowadays pmsl) and shot 91.

Farcical really.
Fifty fucking four!!? I genuinely only thought it went to 36. Have to be 28 or under at my course or you’re not allowed on the course (you can remedy that by buying lessons until such time you won’t hack the course up)

Played the JCB course on Friday. Extremely difficult course and somewhere I wouldn't want to play every week but if anyone gets the chance it's worth it. The European Tour will probably turn up there soon, its that good.

28 at my course, though i played a knock out last week, his course handicap was 32 mine 8. 24 fucking shots, I am 62, and giving away 24 shots. 2 shots on 6 holes.
Games gone.

Played it .
Great green complexes.
With his contacts, he will get Ryder cup .
That is what he wants.

54 ? Is that his handicap ?

If it is christ glad I not a head greenkeeper anymore lol. Image having about 50 or 60 members playing of that ! They would be no course left after a week or two.

Think when I started as a greenkeeper the max handicap was 18 I think. And we classed those as hackers !

When I started playing it was 18 max in majors/board prizes & 24 for members prizes/medals.
The WHS has a lot of good points but is open to abuse, eg putting in social golf scores to jack up handicap.

I like the WHS, I’ve put in over 240 cards since I started last October. It certainly keeps it up to date and accurate.

Yes, people at my club are playing social rounds as supplementary scores, then not playing in comps.
I like the WHS for serious golfers who realise equity is an important part of golf, but nobs wanting to shoot net scores in the 50s I don't want in my World.

I never understand handicap fiddlers/protectors. Why pretend to be shitter than you are to win some vouchers in a comp.

The previous system was open to abuse. There will always be people who try to 'cheat' and there's really not a lot we can do about it. Is there a rule 19 available for the handicap committee to use?

Years ago we had members who would play in everything to get their handicap as high as possible and then play in open competitions where the prizes were good. I find that mentality really weird. When I play, I play to win otherwise what's the point.

did you hit the green on the monster par 3 island?

Left pin high made 4. We were on the next to back tee playing over 200 yards.
Played Druids Glen a few years back and their 17th is an island green, definitely nicked the design off Sawgrass.

I think Congu stopped H/cap cttees doing that- it was all down to the computer . They tried it on our resident bandit and he wrote to the R&A. If he wins anything people just get up and walk out at presentations.

*Gratuitous brag post* (apologies)

Absolutely over the moon today, having broken 80 only once before (started playing last October) I shot a 76 (64 net) today on the Championship course this morning playing with my wife. My driver was on fire which made all the difference and I’ve never had a round like it, everything just felt right and I was swinging easy. Why can’t it be like this every time?
Really good progress, well done, having regressed over the years I'm playing off 17 with our group who don't play in the comps much, mostly yellow tees, 36 points yesterday, well happy when I break 90!

Going back to Steve Kyi, he was a member at Doha for 7 years and left in December, he played in several Societies including the Dolphins and the Ligs, his last project was the World Cup Stadiums, before that he worked on the highways infrastructure, he said the "wages" were insane. He's the same age as me and now
retired, a bit like you but a lot older :-)
