Harry Kane

Oh shit

I reckon that’s bullshit.

No way would we just sit back and let him get that far with a rival without even trying to convince him to sign for us when it’s obvious he’s so desperately needed. Either that or we’ve already agreed everything with Harry Kane instead.

Levy is a time-waster and a wind-up merchant. City are wasting their time talking to him. We need to make a single take-it-or-leave-it offer with a tight timescale. Getting involved with Levy is a mistake at a time when we need to focus on next season.
Levy needs the money but his ego means he will drag it out as long as possible. He can't help himself. Levy has been taking the piss out of Kane and the Spurs fans for years. City don't need to be taken for mugs as well.
Imagine thinking this is how the world works. Christ.

Who said we have been sitting back, Haaland could have told us hours, days, weeks, months ago that he doesn't want to sign. Which is why we moved to Kane.

In the end people make decisions based on their understanding of their world. I think there are such things as awkward customers. There is a human element to business, if there wasn't then what would be the difference between City and Utd? Its the human history not the compelling business world they operate in.

As we all know by now doing a deal with the player is the easy part.

If the same had been claimed about us, by the same source (a podcast mention) that I know nothing about, I'd be cautious, maybe even doubtful. But a part of me would get a degree of hopelessness out of it. So only fair to apply the same to Chelsea. Doubt it, but partly think there might be some confidence there enough to speculate so.

Let's wait and see what happens with Levy and City in negotiations over Kane. I don't believe there is any chance of a deal happening between the two clubs. Personalities always matter hugely in boardroom negotiations.

Harry Kane has made it perfectly clear that his time at spuds is up and he wants to move..

Levy has the albatross that is the new stadium hanging over the club..

Covid, lack of supporters and lost revenue, totaling 10's and 10's of millions will lead to Kane being sold by Levy this window..

Levy can bristle all he wants, he knows his prized asset is at the peak of his value now...

It's just not an option for Kane to stay when he doesn't want to be there, this coupled with his valuation depreciating rapidly if he stays another season is a no brainer..

Spuds are still looking to attract a manager and top end managers appear to be uninterested in the job..

Why would Kane want to hang around there, in a shiny new stadium with no trophy room.. he probably doesn't even like cheese ffs..

All this "Levy's playing hardball crap" is smoke and mirrors, Kane's getting flogged, he's even mentioned wanting to play with KDB ffs..

Spuds need the money more that they need a unhappy, depreciating asset..

Kane may or may not sign for us, he's already stated he wants to stay in the PL which he most probably will... but one thing's for sure, it won't be at spuds..!

Great post mate.

He is signing for us though, everything is in place, this little dance your seeing in the press from levy’s side every other day for the next couple of weeks is just preparing the fans for his departure.

I think if, and it is very much an if, we do really want Kane as our main target, a deal will inevitably get done, and he will be our player.

But it will take most of the summer, it will cost a fortune, and we will in the end pay what Levy wants.

Imagine believing, based on nothing more than amplified speculation over a 'come get me' generic chat on a golf course, that this is all set and has all been done for a while. Many even expected it to have been announced before the euros.

Will be a long drawn out this one, possibly with a re-think or two along the way.

People said that about Modric, then Bale and then Walker. Levy sells, doesn't matter how much he postures, he caves eventually.

Not a chance he can afford to let a once in a lifetime 150m deal go. His ego wouldn't allow it, imagine little old Daniel Levy overseeing the British record transfer....

All this nonsense in the press now is just his little peacock dance. They don't even have a fuckin manager yet, that's how incompetent he is.

I agree. Do you think Harry Kane is worth 150m though? And do you think the club would think it is worth paying?

We aren't talking haggling all summer over a difference of 5m here like Walker or Bale, we arentalking a good 20-30m of a gap probably, from what most of us could reasonably assume the club would push to pay for a player of his profile.

I don't really care about the fee in all honesty, we need a striker and there are probably a 3 in the world that are class, one doesn't look like he wants to join (Haaland), one is going nowhere (Lewandowski) and the other in Kane looks desperate to be here.

I think you are right we are quite a way off but we will keep our powder dry, Euros will make it difficult definitely but I see no reason it doesn't get done.

We should do this with EVERY xfer...make an offer, set a timeline, sign said player/go somewhere else.

Think they've changed it so then window for the PL shuts before the games start. Not sure how itnworks out this year.

If Levy were to drag it out, i could see the club switching targets (assuming he teally is the top target as per the expectation). Hopefully.
They've aligned with the rest of Europe again.
Window closes 23:00 31st August.
PL website
"See all the moves in the summer transfer window at the Premier League clubs for the 2021/22 season. The Premier League summer 2021 transfer window is now open for 12 weeks and will close at 23:00 BST on 31 August."
I love Google ;)

There is no chance of City paying anywhere near £150m for Kane because of his age and injury record. You are right to question the competence of Levy. The way he has handled the managerial situation is laughable. The press used to paint Levy as some sort of financial wizard. I have never bought into it. If Spurs were smart they would have funded the new stadium in a way which didn't damage the long-term future of the club. Joe Lewis has enormous cash reserves.
In my view Levy is stupid enough to spin out negotiations with City just to save his face. City will walk away but we need to do it sooner rather than later. Haaland is one of the few players (along with Mbappe) who is worth £150m. Chasing Kane is a waste of our precious time.

You might be right, I think we have a fee in mind if and it doesn't happen then we move forward, our supposed "second options" usually work out pretty good. I like Andre Silva and so forth etc.

I accept that Kane is a brilliant player and would improve our team but we also need to strengthen in other areas. We have still not found a replacement for Fern. We have seen the impact Kante is having for Chelsea and France. Could Kalvin Phillips do that job for us? He was brilliant against us for Leeds this season. It is a question of priorities for me and a protracted saga over Kane would damage us in my view. We have other fish to fry.

We have one priority this summer and that’s to buy a proper out and out number 9 and Kane is that player. If it means we pay more than fans are happy with (not sure why they give a shit it’s not their cash) and means that he’s the only player we bring in then that’s what we will do.

Any other business will be one in one out e.g Grealish probably will come in if Bernardo goes.
