Harry Kane

Harry Kane is a proven Premier League goal scorer and will score bag loads for us. However, many of those goals will come against teams outside of the top six. For me, in the current depressed market due to Coronavirus with his ability, age and injury record taken into consideration, he’s worth about £80-£85 million. The remaining £15-£65 million is based on English player tax, press hype and a stubborn inability of everyone outside of the club to understand we don’t pay silly amounts for players. Twelve years on and everybody thinks our club is immune from the effects of Coronavirus and we are going to be a meal ticket for Spurs or Villa whilst selling off our own players at less than market value.

As domalino pointed out, only 7 times has a club paid over £100 million for a player. I’ll be amazed if Manchester City or anybody else do so this summer. The clubs that have paid those sums are in a mess on the whole.
Double like, although disagree he will score loads. He won’t suit our style of play.

70m plus either Sterling or Jesus
Why would they go to Spurs, the club is in a big whole with no escape. Mid table beckons even if they manage to sell Kane. They would have to have a near perfect reinvestment to even manage a top 6 finish… it’s just not happening.

Yeah, the narrative will be that he's damaged goods if we did sign him, poor player dreadful Euros etc etc
Good thing is if we do end up buying him his price has gone down quite a bit. Levy will be anxious that his form improves.

Not a dig at the podcast because I think it's very good but don't they get most of their transfer info from Sam Lee? I know they've had him on as a guest quite a few times anyway. If it has come from him then I would be a bit dubious about how true that is.

I feel confident enough to say that the info Pep has personally demanded Kane hasn’t come from Sam Lee but I’m sure @BillyShears can confirm

I am applying some common sense. Every single Haaland rumour has died and Kane rumours have kicked up a notch. Could be all nonsense or legitimately what is happening.

Just on this, as I see it, if you are curious.

There hasn't really been any meaningful Haaland rumours, not for me. Nothing to die, as you put it. There was a bit of noise around the time we played them in the CL, which is predictable, and also coincided with our announcing Sergio leaving, so a bit of forcing 2 and 2 together by some in the media. And our ITKs at the time claimed it was a priority and in motion, if you take anything from that.

There has similarly been nothing substantial on Kane either. He gave an interview which Sky managed to segment and time really well, coupled with a supposed leak from his camp days later, and then some tenuous guessing. And then, fuck all for weeks. If anything died a death, it is the Kane links. Oh and our ITKs claimed it was a priority and in motion too. Tolmie maybe seems unsure at times, in the context of overall business, but generally the same positivity and confidence is there as was with Haaland at the time.

Now I could read the above that we were never in for Haaland. Or were but went off it on price, or he didn't show he wants to come, or didn't like his agent, etc. etc.

Or can read it that the media simply didn't have a clue, and still don't because we keep our cards close to our chest.

Pretty much all of the above can be read for Kane too, replacing agent with chairman, and maybe assuming he would want to come rather than 'turning us down' like Haaland supposedly. But nothing to suggest Haaland wouldn't want to come here either.

Hence my opinion, nothing we can know of is off or on the table. Time will tell how it unfolds, most likely after the Euros.

All fair enough mate, lets see how it plays out. I want Haaland as much as anyone but just think its Hazard all over again.

If he’s looking for a move you would have thought the Euros was the perfect shop window for him. Looked as though he just found out he’s not getting his dream move to City and dreading the thought of another season at Spurs

Tbh.....he looked unfit, same as CL final against Liverpool, should not play if not fit.

thank christ the people managing our club don't make their decisions based on 120 minutes in the euros. reactionary bunch in here lol

i mean if you went purely off of this tournament, then we have a really shit team, all of our players are underperforming massively. but you should only do that if you're an idiot

My worry was not his physical perfomance, but does he have the winning mentality.
