Harry Kane

I’ve been going back and forth on this ever since the rumors really kicked up, and in a vacuum I think I can understand it, but I really don’t want to sign Harry Kane. He looks awful for England...a yard slow despite swearing up and down he’s healthy, the deal will be drawn out and take all summer, cost a fortune, and doesn’t fit the age profile of our major signings at all.

Meanwhile, Haaland on it’s face might be the most obvious transfer target ever, checks absolutely every box, is a City supporter, and is scoring a goal a game in the Bundesliga and the Champions League. I know we have to pretend on here that our execs are playing 4d chess and never get anything wrong because they’re playing a different game or something....but man, not doing absolutely everything to get him, especially if he signs with a rival instead, feels like such a massive mistake.

If our execs as you call them don't think it's a mistake not to Sign him for any reason......it's possible they know more or have better judgement than us?
He has a soft spot for us....wouldn't call him a supporter, and according to the commentator this evening, Andre Silva scored more Bundesliga goals this season?
I still don't get why some people are going to need a helpline when we dont sign him.

I agree. I could sit here and write for 30 minutes as to why Haaland is the perfect transfer target and the cons of Kane. The board are not infallible, it's clear that there are significant risks splurging 100m+ on a 28 year old with a checkered history past especially given the sudden drop offs in Hazard and Sanchez. From both a football and a commerical perspective, there is absolutely no way we don't regret Haaland ending up at Chelsea.

Well yeah, obviously they know more than I do, they’re highly paid football executives and I’m just some guy. But they’re also not infallible and this seems like a pretty big, pretty obvious, mistake, at least based on what I see as a supporter.

Just can't for the life of me understand the arrogance of thinking we're too good for, again, the current top goalscorer and top assists in the league that has achieved that for a team that finished 7th under Jose bloody Mourinho, and also thinking that you know better because you watched a dreadful england side for 2 hours (and ignoring the fact that our players looked just as bad in that team).

You just have to accept the fact that City won't touch Raiola with barge pole.

This was obvious from the start but people here seem to have convinced themselves otherwise.

City last dealt with Raiola 11 years ago with Balotelli signing, so the chances of dealing with Raiola were extremely slim.

Exactly, Haaland is the case of new toy syndrome and whilst Kane is English and has been around for a while so hes deemed underwhelming even though he has been scoring for fun for crap Spurs team and third player in history to win both Golden Boot and playmaker award. (this also doesnt exactly support the argument that hes injury prone, well because he clearly isnt).

Seeing as Raiola isn’t even his agent I’d suggest it’s probably not that.

Sure, but as a City fan, I want the best for the club and it feels like cutting our noses off inspite of our faces.

This isn't a Dias and Koulibaly situation. Kane is such a risky signing and will never have a connection with the fanbase; he will always be Mr. Tottenham playing in Sky Blue.

Haaland is a commercial powerhouse, a player whose impact on the trajectory of a club is far bigger than Kane.

Just read 4 or 5 pages and this is only post with any sense.

Kane is the best striker in the country comfortably. Scores the most, creates the most.

Be interesting to read the opinions of those who don't want him if he signs for scum or Chelsea and gets 40+ goals next season.

As expected we get the definitive brief from Levy of Harry is not for sale over tonight and the next day or so.

Next will be Harry hands in transfer request.

He might be bigger than Kane commercially, but honest question, is that enough? I mean to me the only 2 players that move the needle IMO is Messi and maybe Ronaldo. They still have a big following in places like Asia, South America and North America amongst other countries. Zlatan for example didn't even get noticed walking around LA and he played there. He asked random people on the street "do you know who I am?" and most said no. Haaland might be big in Nordic countries, but is that enough? Will he have a big enough following around the world?

If you look at the next 2 big so called starts in Neymar and Mbappe, I'm not sure they even move the needle that much. Does anyone not interested in PSG suddenly watch them every week? I know I don't. I don't think it helped them that much considering they have to buy players like Danilo, Herrera taking a loan player in Florenzi and now take Wijnaldum on a free even though he's a decent player.
