Harry Kane

Still a week left of the transfer window. You never know City's need for a striker is too great not to be resolved. How knows there might be a twist to this but I could be far too optimistic :)

This statement won’t be news to city, we’ll have informed Kane we won’t meet the required fee. Let be honest if we wanted him at any cost he’d be holding a blue shirt up by now. Kane wanted City too. Respect to the club for not bending over for Levy.

imo once this went over £100m it was too much for an injury prone 28 year old.

hopefully the club have a plan B lined up that can be signed swiftly as we need a main striker regardless.
Well yeah, despite what everyone likes to say about us, it's clear that we had a budget that we weren't willing to go beyond, and that Levy's valuation didn't fit into that budget. I wonder if Levy is actually gutted because he expected us to cough up.

It's also possible that we haven't been able to find anyone to match our valuation for Bernardo or Laporte, and that would have been a prerequisite for us going higher.

We had a price, we have stuck to it.
The other club didn't want to sell.

I've no issues with the club trying to sign a top player, I've also got no issues with they club having a financial plan and sticking to it.

Do I think we need a 9, yes absolutely.
Do I think there is one out there for us at the moment? No, can't see many options hence we might not sign one, means the money stays available in case a suitable player comes available
the thing is, in my opinion, if you have a price and stick to it, and the other club doesn't want to sell, you don't drag it all the way to august 25th..

Glad this whole Kane saga finally is over. Not that bothered about us not signing Kane in particular, but got to say Im very disappointed in how and why our recruitment team have let it go this far without being able to close the deal. If we had no intention of meeting Levys price tag, why haven't we moved on to other targets weeks ago?

Was about to write a long rant on questioning what our team handling transfers in & out actually are good at, except paying release clauses and letting Mendes work out a deal for them (which seems like something even a clown could do well with our financial strength), but the window is not closed yet so I guess they still have time to work something out. They are being paid handsomely to handle this, and now its time for them to show us why.

6 days left, lets see what happens!

150 million for a 28 year old with dodgy ankles, is quite simply too much.
Id have taken him for , perhaps 60 mill, but Spuds would never entertain that.
Pleased he’s gonna stay on the Spuds physio table, rather than coming to ours. Kane will be thoroughly pissed off, and Levey is stuck with a depreciating asset that doesn’t want to be there.
If Ronaldo comes, the swamp dwellers will go into meltdown and we can potentially sign Harland next summer.
winner all round for me.. cmon City

Thank goodness for that (if true).

I like Kane but he's Spurs through and through. As Tottenham as Martin Chivers and Alan Gilzean. Kane seems a decent bloke and a good pro so I'd expect him to be fully committed to the Spurs cause. And only Kane and Levy know if there was any breach of trust between them but, on face value, Levy didn't want to sell and hasn't so no gripe there either

Hopefully, we have a plan B. If not, there will be a good reason why not.
Well done mate, perfect analysis.

I don't see anybody being at fault here.

It's simply 2 clubs not agreeing a fee, both parties are entitled to their own valuation of the player.

Kane wanted his move, he didn't get it, it's a shame for him but at the end of the day he's under contract. Don't think he bottled it at all. What if he handed in a transfer request and the clubs still couldn't agree a fee?

As for a back up, if there's nobody that fits the bill I completely understand the club sticking with what we've got. We've made mistakes in the past with Bony, Jovetic etc. So if nobody is available, why should we panic.

As for Haaland, with the money involved its not gonna happen, people really need to make peace with that.

I'll whisper this, just between me and you, top class strikers are thin on the ground, there's one at PSG that wants to go to Real, one at Dortmund who has a **** of an Agent and Harry Kane who for a variety of reasons wants to stay at the Spuds.
Sorry, that just doesn't hold water, your saying that around the six main leagues in Europe only three teams have world class strikers and what's more if that's the case if Levy wanted 160m for one of the three is that really that unreasonable. People can't have it both ways....I would also add that we are down too one kind of striker period, world class or otherwise!

Not particularly arsed to be honest in respect of the player himself or our clear (and rightful IMO) disinclination to pay the ludicrous asking price, but I am royally peed off that this has reached precisely the conclusion that many of us predicted as soon as a move was first mooted......ie we would pee around all summer, fruitlessly attempting to negotiate a deal with the English equivalent to DiLaurentiis, with no back up plan in place. Torres as a false 9 for the season does not inspire......

I'm only remotely bothered by this if we've been foolish enough not to have backups. Given this has happened now and not in 5 days time I expect us to move swiftly. We need a striker, doesn't have to be Kane.
Trust the club, not the first time this type of deal "failed", 5 days to go, 5 day of madness

COME ON CITY
