Historically A Very Good Year

On course to finish in the top 2 which given that we've only won the league 3 times makes this our joint 4th best season ever. Squad full of brilliant players. A manager who wins a trophy virtually every year no matter where he is. Brand spanking new ground sold out every week. Hundreds of millions being invested in new academy and various other infrastructure and community projects. Owners with gazillions in the bank poised to splash some close season cash on another superstar.

WHY AREN'T YOU HAPPY
Because we don't seem to be moving forward as a club. Do you want us to be another Blackburn or Arsenal?
Appointment of Soriano and Begiristain, the start of the development of the Academy, transfer signings of players that could be good squad players for us over the coming years (something we needed ongoing as our squad isn't very deep), probable consolidation of Champions League football for next season, possibly another trophy...in my eyes we certainly are moving forward as a club in many aspects and we will spend big on first XI signings this Summer. We're goin one way and that's up; it might not always be a perfect straight line up as there may be slight dips and plateaus along the way but we are progressing as a club.

Forums are populated largely by teenagers with no real perspective on life and the terminally bored vocal minority kneejerk reaction brigade so any disappointment felt by normal fans as they reflected on a poor display at Soton is exaggerated to the nth degree by forum nutters.

GET OVER YOURSELVES

Whilst I agree in principle with what you're saying , the problem is this ......

because of the vast amount of money spent , we are now dining at the top table , and once you've sat at the 'head of the table' , as we did last season , it's very hard to settle for sitting anywhere else !

The 'view' from your seat just isn't the same !

Watch how much effort the rags are putting into winning the title back , and you can see that they feel exactly the same .... they are breaking their backs to win it back , and that's clear for everyone to see ..... they were devastated last season , and they'd rather die than see us finish above them again.

Expectations were high , but we just haven't stepped up to the plate this season (or in the close season) , when we clearly should have done .... and the simple fact of the matter is that teams who finish in a very respectable second place just aren't known as 'winners'!

Then maybe this forum full of stupid teenagers isn't right for you. Go find another, and I'll be glad that you did.

You won't, though, will you? Glad that's sorted out.

The idiot brigade benchmark us now against the greatest moment in English football. Of course they will be disappointed

Excellent post, I think it sums up the majority, personally if we get our act together, finish 2nd and win the cup. I'll take it as a decent season, after all it would be our 2nd best season in 44 years.

The reality is that we are 12 points behind the top in Febuary after the high of winning the league in an incredible manner and also the fact that we probably (maybe...hmm maybe not,,im not sure) have the most talented team in the league.

That is the dissapointment- 12 points behind, with consistently poor performances so far, save a few games.

Hell, without Dzekos heoics at the early part of the season, who knows were we would have been at this stage.

So,although I do understand that we have a lot to be happy and thankful about but the glearing issue is that the team has not delivered this season. Not yet anyway.

Out of the LC against a shite Villa team

Knocked out of the CL without winning a fucking game

Out of the title race in early Feb

Inconsistent performances throughout the season

Players under performing

Boring football

And you wonder why some are unhappy?

The last 2 posts are spot on, why is everyone so happy about our season? Yes it's better than the dark days but we our resources Mancini has under achieved this season and there's no sign of him turning it around.
