Cheers mate, the cycling will be no problem as it’s what I do for exercise, do they do road bikes by any chance?

Road bikes and Mountain bikes available, electric bikes also, can't recall what the shop is called but it's off the old square to the right,there's a sports shop on the corner.

All worth a visit.

If you’ve got any spare time trips to Mulhouse and Munster are worth it. Lots of interesting museums in Mulhouse, with a German feel to the town and very old, pink, town hall!

Several times when we lived down the SW, mostly on short stop overs when we had the campervan. Nice place to base yourself, some nice restaurants, Ship Inn pub nice too. Skinners ales everywhere is a bonus as is Philips pasty shop. Like every where down there in August it can get rammed, particularly food festival week and the road getting into it from the east can be a nightmare. Some great coastal walks on the doorstep and many other places to visit by car.

Just got back from a week in the Vendee region in France with my 2 boys, had a wonderful time. Spent a couple of days at a theme park there called Puy Du Fou. Not a traditional theme park in the sense that there are no rides as such, more shows, often based on historical periods - they have a full size Roman Coliseum where they re-create gladiator battle scenes, chariot racing, then the main stage transforms into a Roman galleon ablaze. There's Vikings themed show complete with full size viking boat, a medieval castle siege, and a full walk-through of a Napoleonic era ship. There are other more arty shows which make genius use of projection and colour. I highly recommend it, especially if you have kids. One of the few theme parks i've been to which genuinely rivals the Disney ones.

Porthcurno possibly the finest sandy beach in the U.K., proper blue sea with the Minack built into the cliffs.
Sennen Cove - you can walk to Lands End with views all the way and miss all the Disneyland shite you get if you drive to the L E car park.
St Agnes and Trevaunance Cove - park in S A and walk it, call into the brewery at T C.
The Lizard - walk some of the coastal path stunning views and very uncommercialized. If you go to Kynance Cove, go early and avoid the masses.
Newlyn - still a proper fishing hub, still selling seafood from street shacks last time I was there, bit of a walk but best way to see Mousehole (pronounce it Mowzul if you don’t want to sound like an Emmet) and you pass the Penlee Lifeboat memorial.

Your post reminded me of the Penlee disaster. I remember it happening (I was 14 at the time) and because we spent a lot of summer's in Cornwall it felt very real. I'm now going to watch/ listen to as much as I can about the Solomon Browne and her incredibly brave crew.
