How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

It’s impossible to accept that this has anything to do with Brexit as that would then lead to accepting other things as well, and that in turn would lead to the most dangerous of things: accountability.

The clowns are also failing to learn from their recent mistakes. The wheels when they finally came off the Johnson bandwagon did so pretty damned quick and its all unravelled in record time. Unless they start facing up to what they have done and taking steps to resolve things because this could all blow up in the face of a new PM before they realise what the fuck is going on.

Just remember this - the smirk and the blatant lies that he knew were lies and yet some still deny were lies because their job depends on it or to deny it means they will have to say they were wrong

I’m fully expecting that to happen but nothing can be done to stop it. You have MPs who have ridden the Brexit crest so for them their lives have never been better, be that politically or economically and they are immune to the reality facing millions.

Listening to 5 Live this morning a couple of Brexiteer callers would not have it that Brexit was at least partly to blame for the chaos at Dover. Obviously not all of it was but it was a significant part. You can’t reason with them I’m afraid. It’s a waste of time

I wasn't convinced by it at the time, but even as someone who has always thought him a fool, I have to say that was quite persuasive in the right context.

Boris Johnson is a hard selling conman of the type portrayed in Glengarry Glen Ross.

As good as admits it himself:

"Have I paralysed you enough"?

Anyone else who watched that clip expecting Matt Alright from Rogue Traders to jump out?

Even when up against another public school boy turned journalist he managed to come out unbruised and trick the 52%.

It is a binary choice and admitting one thing is wrong can only lead to admitting other things might be wrong, too. These callers believe they have ‘won’ something and are loathe to see that reversed or diminished.

Sarcasm.

Make your case why the Brexit Party ascendancy led by a conman is better than the stubborn old git if you like.
I never said it was.

Of course at the time of voting, many voters perhaps didn't fully realise what a mess of things Jonson would make. I must admit that while I didn't vote for him, I didn't expect him to be quite as bad as he turned out to be.

Assuming you are a Labour supporter, I'd be more inclined to ponder why so many people didn't get Labour's message (or if they did, why it didn't appeal).

Apologies for jumping the gun, but now with benefit of hindsight the view that those people held has been shown to be deluded.

It’s all ground covered before in other threads. I have never believed Corbyn was a good leader but it is hard to see that he could be a worse PM than Boris.

On that we can agree (though I didn't vote for Corbyn either).

Well nobody other than people who lived in Islington North did. ;)

I voted for a Labour candidate to the right of him. If I am living in current constituency at next election I'll be voting Lib Dem for tactical reasons ( Labour hasn't had an MP here since the 50s).

People like you should be matched down the M20 to Dover and made to apologise to every single family queuing to get to France.
aha so you think that is the only thing Brexit was ever about? Typical remoaner approach of "there cannot be ANY negatives for anyone" whilst quietly sweeping all the EU negatives we suffered under the carpet (a good example being EU's France and their go slow which is causing all those queues)

They are the people who didn't realise that there are 2 sides to a border. You have had Truss this weekend over the Dover crisis saying she would instruct the French to sort things out....??? She has no jurisdiction over France - French and EU law presides over that side of La Manche but clowns like those you describe swallow her lies with gusto and take it as the truth

If the French didn’t have to check our passports, there would be no delays.

We’re at the mercy of the French even though we manage our own borders.
