How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

When? We shot ourselves in the foot, most accept that now, we'll see how it heals but we know it will never be as good as it was.
You have alluded to this a lot of times. Must forget about the good old days. Best to focus on doing our best to make things better in the future. First lesson forget the term Brexit. It is poisonous. Time to look past it.

Well I know that, doesn't mean that it was either a good thing for the UK, nor that we couldn't have or in the future will have a much better version of it than we have now. To do that we have to see and accept the mistakes we made with Brexit. We also need to accept we've harmed ourselves far more than the EU is harmed so that we stop expecting the EU to try and fix anything for us.

Least said soonest mended. We can almost pretend it never happened

Democracy allowed people to make their own choice. The referendum probably shouldn't have happened. However, it did. I try and reflect why Cameron felt he had to call it. Our relations with the EU were never that great. I firmly believe things happen for a reason. A period away may sharpen peoples focus and make countries appreciate each other more. I hope we play hard ball with the EU. We are too soft on so many things. In reality there is not going to be reconciliation. There is more chance of changes being made to our own union. Is that self harm or just adapting to changes?

That makes no sense, play hard ball, no reconciliation, these are stupid phrases, what does too soft even mean ?The government have one job, any government, that job is to make life easier and better for people in this country, This government have shown they are incapable of that, this hard Brexit has made things worse.
We are where we are, but we have to stop digging and find away out of the hole. That means sensible grown up conversations with the EU. Yes you’re right there is a chance another consequence of brexit is a break up of the EU, the less reconcilliation with the EU the more likely that is, is that what you want, will that be good?
Your solution seems to be an even harder brexit, more isolation , in what way can that make anything better for the people in this country?

The British government need to do whatever is right for people living and working in the UK. For the most part the Conservative have failed on most things. Maybe a change of political party will help the negotiations. Personally, I'm not expecting anything from the EU. That is the best thing to do. The British system is failing a lot of people. Maybe my answers are a little vague and confused. This has been brought on by the times we are living through. Faith and trust seem to have left many people. Britain is divided and the only people who are thriving are the wealthy elites. It is going to be interesting to see where we all are after the storms of recent times. Thank goodness for Manchester City.

That will only be able to happen when loons like Farage stop using the term. As long as they think its a valid electable currency they will hang on to it. As for the future well the old membership has gone and we will never have those hard won exemptions - won by the likes of Thatcher and Major ironically - back again. I am 63 next birthday and as much as I'd like to see it I think I will be long gone before we can negotiate rejoining.
As long as Tory MP's are hailing the finding of razor shell clams in the Thames estuary as a Brexit win with all that entails then the EU cannot waste time and negotiate with us.

Well if we can't look at the reality of self-imposed economic restraints we might as well follow the dream of unicorns frolicking on sunlit uplands. And if we all wish hard enough I'm sure it will happen.

It's OK. I think Blueloon's had an early night. Unicorns are sleeping soundly too.

Kent County Council's cabinet member for roads, Cllr Neil Baker, has told councillors that biometric checks set to be introduced by the European Union in October to replace the manual stamping of passports could lead to congestion on the county's roads for years to come. Cllr Baker said the council "could be looking at the equivalent of three years solid of Brock being in place", referring to Operation Brock, the traffic management system introduced to deal with queues of lorries backed up from the Port of Dover. "This is going to be a serious, serious mess", he said, and "it is not just Kent – we are probably going to look at, potentially, 12 to 14 hour queues up at the Eurostar terminal in London. It's going to be grim."
