How good can Iheanacho get?

He's no Samaras for sure. I reckon if he gets a longterm crack in the PL, we're talking Shearer/Cole-class. But, we have to protect him from becoming Sturridge on the injury front.
He looks to have more to his overall game than Cole and probably Shearer too. No disrespect to those two, though, who were brilliant at what they did.

I take it every paper, every sports website and tv/SSN are running on a loop just how good this lad is etc etc?

Or does he wear the wrong colour shirt?

He reminds me of film I've seen of Pele as a kid. It was of course a different game then & different tactics, so we're not going to see Kelechi flicking & tricking his way around 6 modern day defenders at a time, like a kid in the schoolyard, like Pele was doing, but the moments of magic are there & imo ther are similarities. Imo Kelechi could have come straight from the U17 World Cup into our first team squad. Not as a regular starter, but off the bench etc, red tape made that impossible.

He is a potential genius & those on here saying stuff like 'that's the standard our kids need to be at in order to get a game' are talking ridiculous nonsense. In that case the only player in the team would be Aguero. Very few of our first team squad would have been able to come into a City team at 19 & do what Kelechi has done. If any. And no way was Aguero as sharp mentally, when he was 22 never mind 19, Aguero was super talented but a bit headless.

Kelechi doesn't just have skill (they all have skill) he has the mentality, intelligence & confidence to go with it, & will likely have the physique too & that's why he reminds me of Pele, rather than just ability. With Pep in charge during these crucial years to come, there must be a decent chance of him realising his potential, which is off the scale. There is much more to Kelechi's game than scoring tap ins etc & it will start to show.
Great post Nev.

Sturridge is a decent yardstick rather than Shearer or Cole imo. Sturridge was at the kind of level some of our other kids are at now, real talent, potential top class but nothing guaranteed, & injuries plus bad choices have stopped him being one of the best players in the country.

Kelechi is on a couple of levels above where Sturridge was, not neccessarily in talent, but in everything else.

I think we all need to calm down. Getting a bit carried away here
Mate, we are going to produce a world class player through our ranks (I know that he didn't play much for junior teams but that was due to circumstances) soon and there's no reason why Kelechi can't be the one.
Believe me, some of the people on here praising him have seen prospects come and go and don't call our geese swans.
I'm all for playing it cool but sometimes you've got to back your gut feeling.

Not sure if anyone mentioned it, I know the press won't. Nacho has scored the same amount of goals as Martial but in half the games......

Actually the above is a bit of an understatement: Martial has scored 9 goals with 2653 minutes of playing time, Iheanacho has scored 9 (if you count the goal that was wrongly scratched off) is 613 minutes.

It took Iheanacho 23% of the time that it Martial...

Im never one to get carried away with a young player but he looks the business....his composure in front of goal is fabtastic....bony could learn a thing or two in that respect.

1 of Martials goals was for Monaco, he only has 8 for the scum.

He must have a better minutes per goal ratio than Aguero? If not, it's very close. That says it all really. 19 years of age and needs less time to get a goal than the greatest striker we've ever had (admittedly over a smaller number of games!)

Aguero is at 1 goal every 103 minutes, Iheanacho is at 1 goal every 76 minutes (every 68 minutes if we count the goal they wrongly counted out).

He's like a coiled spring!

'Terrifying are the attent sleek thrushes on the lawn, more coiled steel than living'

That's Kelechi!!

May i draw your attention to this post i made in October;

There comes a moment in every young players career when things click and they go from prospect to main player. Some describe it as 'bursting onto the scene' after the event. This kid has shown glimpses of real potential and one day he will light up the premiership. Maybe this could be that day.

But I'm sure he looks better than this

That looks more like a starling!

Kelechi appears to have it all at his disposal: height, pace, a goal-poacher's quick reactions (Palace away and yesterday) and a cool head, as proven by his Marioesque penalty and the way he dispatched his third at Villa Park.

Let's hope he continues to develop in the right way and if he does, we may well have a world-class forward on our books in a few years' time.

And let's not start comparing him to others.

OK. Minor corrections then:
Martial has scored 8 goals with 2321 minutes of playing time, Iheanacho has scored 9 (if you count the goal that was wrongly scratched off) is 613 minutes.

It took Iheanacho 26% of the time to score more goals than Martial has...
