I'd Settle for 161 (has a nice ring to it!)

Can see us just falling short of 170. Still fantastic but would have been nice to have carried on scoring at the rate we were earlier maybe if our forwards would have been able to rotate properly rather than overplayed and injured we'd have got close to 200.

You realise that to get 170 we would need to score an average of 4 goals a game for the rest of the season. right? We're averaging 2.76 a game at present (over the course of the whole season). 170 would be quite a push, especially with Aguero injured and Dzeko and Negredo out of form.

I'm going to estimate a nice un-round 153 by the end of May.

My bad, I misread. Thought you meant we were going to finish one or two off it - close enough to essentially be 170 goals.

Just been having this conversation with my Father!

We've scored 104, 107 and 108(twice) league goals in our history. [i don't know any other stats for seasons with games in all competitions, if anyone does that's be good].

I don't think we'll surpass those but you never know. We're currently on 84 with seven games left to play with four home games against bottom half teams, though, so maybe!

But 138 goals in all competitions is great!

The two European records are:
Barcelona in 2008-09 scored 158 goals in 62 competitive games.
Barcelona in 2012–13 scored 115 goals in 38 league games.

Can't see us racking up big scores in the 3 away games (palace, liverpool and everton) but villa, wba, sunderland and west ham at home makes it possible.

The rags 1956/57 season breakdown was -

League 103, FA Cup 15, European Cup 24, Charity Shield 1.

They played 57 games in total - we'll have played exactly the same number by the end of the season so assuming we beat the record our goals per game figure will be better.

That Barca record of 158 looks tantalisingly close but probably too much to ask.

If we can score 3 goals per game until the end of the season, we will break Chelsea's record of 103 goals in a season.

But I think we will break the record set by the Busby babes in the next two or three games.

The current total goals scored in all comps is 136 ( not 138 ) and therefor the number required to set a new record is 8 goals which should easily be reached. The record for just Premier League games is 103 held by Chelsea. This would be very hard to beat as we would need 20 in just 7 games but it is possible of course.
