I am of the opinion that when the US authorities rid FIFA of its greedy dinosaurs, and probably take control of FIFA, then the use of available technology to assist referee decision making will be introduced. It's all about the money and footie is the only sport refusing technology under the current regime.

Video technology, like the pass back rule and goalline technology, is one of those changes which will be opposed by the dinosaurs but will very quickly fall into the category of 'why didn't we do this years ago'. The referees clearly need help and the technology is there.

I think we had a corner, it got cleared and De Bruyne put it back in the box. Mangala gets a touch on it and i think Morgan caught him. Stayed on his feet though and wins another corner.

Must admit I thought I had misheard him when he first said it was not a penalty.
After that his defence of the argument was an embarrassement to his profession.

Probably nearly 50 years.....but like most decent people on here...I have the intelligence to be able to insult them without having to refer to people (including one of our own) who were killed in a plane crash!

well I know we're hard done by, but we can't complain compared to Betis.

Keeper comes and punches, Messi runs into him and falls over, ref gives a penalty to Barca. Neymar then kicks it twice taking the penalty, the ball hits the bar then comes back and goes off the defender for an OG.

When your luck's out, horribly biased refereeing.

Imagine the situation if there was a video referee judging whether there was a "foul" on Aguero or not. This review can be taken while the players are arguing with the referee over the incident, and will not take up any further time.

"Should that have been a penalty, Mr Webb, Mr Jones?" "No, the defender just about touched the ball, not enough to change it's direction, and the contact with Aguero was merely incidental. No penalty" says Mr Webb. "Despite the fact the defender didn't touch the ball, and the incident was in the penalty area, it was obvious that Aguero dived . No penalty, and a yellow card for simulation to Aguero, " says Mr Jones.

Sums it up, really.

What happens if Mr Webb is the video ref ;-)

Quite right and it's also against the CoC, for which he (and a couple of others who did it) got a warning.

Watching the game again and it is frightening how many poor decisions Pawson made. It will be interesting what game he gets next if any.

I couldn't believe what he said and then I remembered it was us who shopped him and his fellow bent refs, Walton & Foy, to the PL. So he had to "retire" at 43. It's about time that little dossier made its way into the public domain and, instead of sitting in a studio, he's in a prison cell where he belongs.
