Hughes tactically Naive?

Re: We are throwing away a huge opportunity

Had we won these 4 games we would've been on 25 points atm.

Re: Shout At Me All You Like But We Are S**t

For all those who have posted so far here are a few of my views as stated on BM previously

I like MH, I called for him to be given time but I cannot in all honesty see where any improvements will come from- we have seen enough of his teams/tactics/substitutions since he took control to form a non-knee jerk reaction opinion.

I think we have the most talented squad in the club history with fantastic individuals in almost every position, but they seem less likely to perform now than before MH influenced their play.

Flair, where is it? When we are on song we are almost unstoppable but it seems that we are playing in ever decreasing circles.

Passion, Im simply not seeing it across the team.

Winning mentality - Roy Keane, John Terry, Patrick Viera, Tony Adams, Steven Gerrard, Rooney had/have it but I see very little of it at the moment.

Divine right to win - I have been accused of expecting City to win every game, nope I dont - i pray they do but it seems that the players amble into games expecting to win

Re: We are throwing away a huge opportunity

What everyone forgets is that the quality of opposition that we are playing against. Look at who we've played

Aston Villa -probably top 4 this term
The Mighty Wigan enough said
The Fantastic Fulham
and of course the brillaint Brum today

We all just need to pu things into perspective right now and 4 points out of 12 is no mean feat against the quality opposition we've come up against

I started writing this with 10 minutes to go and my opinion wont change with the result.

City are awful and are going nowhere under Hughes.

There are simply no excuses any more.

The players apparently have the 'winning attitude' but have been made to look very poor over the last month.

Today they have shown the footballing world that the City disease still thrives and is doing well.

I have mostly kept my opinions on the team to myself and have tried to remain positive saying that they needed time, Hughes needed time but I fear that the very best opportunity that City will have of achieving a top 4 finish (other teams dropping lots of points) will go begging because the manager lacks imagination, tactical nouse and the ability to motivate.

I like MH in truth, he has handled the pressure of being Citys manager really well but the outcomes/outputs from his tenure so far have been far from significant.

We all started this season expecting a nervous time as we were likely to keep pace with the big boys but I ahve sat nervously as City 'HELD OUT' for a draw against Birmingham, only doing so after a penalty save.

We are in the top 4 because of a remarkably poor season from so many other teams, Liverpool, Everton, Villa and Spurs amongst them.

I really dont look forward to a game against another big team and I expect Arsenal to more than pay us back come the Carling Cup game.

What positives can you give me for the last months games?

We beat Scunnie, wow! But even they scored and caused us problems.

Come on people, shout at me, call me a dick, call me a rag do your best but please give me good REASONS for being wrong.

The whistle has just gone and the result 0 - 0 thanks to Shay.

How many decent chances did Brum have? Possibly 4. Ho many for City None.

Jeeeeeesus I need a drink after that shocker.

Villa - Draw
Wigan - Draw
Fulham- Draw
Birmingham - Draw

Apart from the Arsenal result we have beaten Blackburn, Wolves, West Ham and Pompey in the league. Top four, dont make me laugh.

I drink after every City game so what's the big idea?

You are missing the point.Last season we lost. This season we got a draw which i think was a fair result. We also got a draw against Villa and Wigan. All of these games were AWAY from home.We have lost 1 game(in the 97th minute) this season with a nearly new team that is trying to gell.Who is the best upfront?Who is the best in midfield? who is the best in the centre of defence? No idea...and that is what Hughes is trying to do.Get a team sorted that will play to it's strengths.

4th place and 1 loss after 10 games?

Would you have taken that at the start of the season?

I would have.

Re: Our strike force

I feel we are very short up front with no options. Ade injured so we play rsc who is far from fit. Bellamy tevez and swp are all too small and are more attacking midfielders/wide players. All the talk of city having 11 strikers! lol

Update post Birmingham

I repeat Mark Hughes cannot set up the team, motivate the team and clearly is tactically naive, we are going backwards not forward.

All those who hurled abuse at me when I first posted this OPEN YOUR EYES, R U BLIND.

Nice Guy Hughes, but I think he has serious flaws, despite the multitude of good things he has done, in critical areas as stated above. Unfortunately these areas make the difference between a good manager and a winning manager (A Top Notcher).

It is winning that ultimately matters, not the art of good excuses.

Updated post Fulham defeat (ok draw but feels like a defeat) on Page 11.

Hughes praised our performance while yet again rubbishing last years players/team. It was a sign we were top 4 material, apparently.

Get a grip, this is Hughes doing a Fergie by distracting attention away from a dreadful performance. That is the managers' performance.

Martinez outsmarted Hughes second half, who could not respond, seemingly not up to the tactical challegne.

We let in a pathetic goal, Richards fault. We have a defence as leaky as a sieve. injuryies no excuse with our resources and anyway was leaky when at full strength. A leaky defence is not top 4 material.

The sending off just hid the fact that Wigan (new players galore just gelling) took over the game second half (clearly shown by the stats up until the sending off), despite our early goal reposte.

We had our ass kicked by an inferior team, and were lucky, very lucky to get a draw and Hughes celebrates this, pathetic.

Hughes should have taken Zabableta off earlier, it was obvious he was going to get sent off. Hughes should have made tactical changes and substitues earlier.

I am not saying he definitively is not up to the task, because in every box other than tactical, I rate him very highly, but the questions over his tactical ability, and therefore ability to win major honours, remain.

I think this serious weakness will be exposed in the coming Cup matches (No not Scunthorpe) and second half of the season, we will get dumped out of both Cups when up against decent opposition, imho, given Hughes lack of tactical nous.

Who evaluates the manager for Khaldoon Al Mubarak?

Whats the matter is Citymancs too quiet for you?

You are just clueless when it comes to football, and this is why you right essays, when a few words will do. I guess if we still had Dunney we would be top of the league.

Lol, i bet TFM wrote it for him, maybe david villa helped :)

Some of you so called "fans" are absolutely pathetic. Get a grip you fucking idiots. Some of you seem to think that because we spent all this money we would win every game, nobody would play bad and shit would start to smell of roses.

We are a work in progress and we are coming along fine! Getting on the players backs and generally being retarded is not going to help the PROGRESS!

Just cos we used to be shit doesn't excuse tactical naiveity (and I am pro Hughes anyway) and shite from players such as Barry, RSC and SWP.

No we shouldn't win every game - no one expects that but should have been able to turn one of 4 draws into a win.
