Ice Hockey | Player arrested for manslaughter following death of Adam Johnson (P18)

Sounds like there’s been an horrific incident in the Sheffield Steelers-Nottingham Panthers game tonight. A Panthers player has suffered a terrible injury, and the arena has been evacuated. Not entirely sure, but think he may have suffered a blade to the neck? Hope he’s going to be ok.

Must be very serious because those sportsmen are tough buggers, hope the fella pulls through OK.

I think the fact that they evacuated the arena doesn’t bode well. People on Twitter saying how traumatised they are by what they witnessed (not sure if the game was being broadcast live too?).
 
It was live streamed but I don’t think it was on TV.

Does sound like a skate to the neck. Finger crossed he is OK.

The Sun and Mirror have picked it up now.
 
I've seen the video. Very innocuous but odd collision with sickening consequences.

Fingers crossed he pulls through and the medical staff got to him quick enough.

I'm a season ticket holder at Storm and despite all of the padding the players wear, there's so many areas of the body that are exposed and freak accidents like this can happen.

Storm are due to play the Panthers today. That needs to be postponed.

Edit. The EIHL have postponed all games today.
 
Truly horrific news and a tragedy. RIP #47.

Our family are season ticket holders at Solway Sharks and we came home from our game against Hull Seahawks to this terrible news last night and we have woken to the worst imaginable.

Its one big Hockey family and everyone is devastated by this horrible accident.

Thoughts and prayers with everyone at Nottingham Panthers and Sheffield Steelers and the 8000 fans who witnessed something so horrific last night it’s impossible to put into words.

Absolutely horrific that. I hope for whatever reason his family wasn’t at that game last night. Can’t even begin to imagine. RIP
 
Such a sad, tragic accident. Thoughts with his friends, family abd anyone who witnessed it. Some Sheffield Steelers fans that we know were traumatised by it. Rest in peace.

Having seen the incident, only the player involved will truly know what was going on in his head at the time. His foot was unnecessarily high.

We where travelling down to Hull today for the reverse fixture but just been told that all games are now rightly postponed.
