I've wondered about this for a long time now, to the people who have done cardio abs: the very last exercise when it looks like your are thrusting during sex, is it just me that feels absolutely nothing in the abs, but it absolutely kills the upper arms, between the biceps and shoulder?? I don't think my form is wrong!

Haha. Do you use your core during sex since you started Insanity? I sure do!
To answer your question - it does make the arms ache, but generally the workout is improving your core strength so it's all good.

Yeah the way I look at it is if it hurts my upper arms, then they must be getting stronger, which is good, even if the exercise is supposed to do the abs!! Oh well!

When planking, tuck the hips under and tighten your core. That oughta do it.

Are yes the old tightening of the core issue.

You wont get the results you will expect unless you learn and learn fast how to tighten your core when doing any of these workouts Insanity,T25,etc etc.

Easiest way to learn how to tighten your core is to imagine someone is trying to punch you in the stomach and you tighten your core in expectation so it is hard when the punch lands. You have to learn how to do this as well as breathe at the same time. Once you ahve learnt how to do this the results will certainly improve.

I have been a lazy twat this weekend and have had 3 days off..Working late afternoon shifts don't help. Recommencing T25 tomorrow from Week 4 and am gonna chuck 2 insane abs in this week.

Interesting to see peoples take on this, would be great to see some of your before and after pics!

My training is a little different at the moment, probably getting around 6-8 hours a week worth of workouts in with 4 x 90-120min workouts.

I'm aiming to gain weight so I am getting to eat around 4000 cal a day, I do over indulge slightly at weekends but it hasn't impacted my results.

(I am a university student so I have a lot of spare time to fit it in).

I took the pics but wouldn't put them on here.
Arty has seen the results via pm however. Best thing I ever did was insanity!

Would anyone recommend Insanity as a good workout for an ectomorph?

A hard gainer you mean?

Yeah same thing. Just the new gym term for a hard gainer I keep hearing.

I am a hard gainer also however it all depends what you want. If you want muscle gain then free weights is 100% the best option. Doing insanity you will lose bad weight but cut up for sure. It's all about what you want.

Gaining weight is much more about the diet than the workout (they say fitness is 70% diet, 30% exercise) - you can make any workout as a gainer as long as the food is right. You could do worse than buying a big bag of instant oats (cheap) and mixing 2 scoops of it into each of your protein shakes. If you get going and you still aren't gaining weight, then you need to eat more (still, the right healthy food though).
