Bit late with the reply but you don't need energy gels for insanity.
Energy gels are for people who do long cardio sessions.
When I was running, I wouldn't use a gel unless I was doing 15+ miles. So if I was running 14 miles I wouldn't use a gel, so you certainly don't need one for a half an hour session.

BTW - I'm planning on starting insanity tomorrow. Not doing 6 days a week though, prob do 4 days a week and 1 night of 5 a side

i'm thinking of starting this toinight, had to knock the gym on the head about a year ago due to new baby and work commitments so this sounds perfect for me.

can anyone PM me a decent link to download to the ipad?

also what type of diet is involved?

I eat healthy as it is (porridge for breakfast, fruit as snacks and a decent tea etc) but I also like a dink on a Saturday night (never drink in the week).

can I still have a beer on this?

cheers

With insanity they recommend eating a high amount of protein (40% protein, 40% carbs and 20% fat) which can be measured using the myfitnesspal app.

As for the drink, I've been drinking once or twice a week and have lost 7Ibs having just finished week 3. I normally drink on a Saturday so having Sunday as a rest day helps. If you like a drink on a Saturday i'd say start it on Monday.

Just done day 23. I fucking hate doing the cardio resistance one, but love the pure cardio and plyometric one.

Only a few days left until the recovery week then its the Max workouts which will probably make me cry for a further 4 weeks.

Feeling great though. Went football last week for the first time since starting insanity and was running round like a dog with rabies. Just felt really sharp and fit.

Can feel and see results already and not even half way through yet. Lost lots of fat around my chest and stomach, and I can feel and see my abs taking shape a bit.

Also on one of the recovery days I decided to go on a 5 mile run and managed to shave 1.30 minutes a mile off. Could have done more but it was a very hot day :)

Just got some protein powder and creatine from myprotein.co.uk in the past week, so now using that as I find it hard to eat too much after finishing it. Not sure how good this diet plan is but it seems to be doing OK for me.

I just stick to things like chicken, cod, wholegrain food, water, fruit etc. Not had any shit food since starting. I am craving kebabs, currys, pie and chips.

Like a lot of things like this it's what works for you, if you've got money to burn then go for it?

I'm not doing Insanity but I've recently got the fitness bug again and have lost 5lbs in three weeks, about an hour before my routine I ingulge in having about 4 Jaffa Cakes, they're light, cheap and effective.

It was passed on to me by a fitness freak in the army, but like I say, it's what works for you?

I have only had those energy gels once when I did 100 miles on bike ride

It was lemon flavour and had the consistency and look of jizz

It put me off them forever

People say that different types of protein are of better quality. I aint qualified to comment if this is true or not, but the link below takes you to a 5kg tub of protein from Bodybuilding Warehouse.

I use the chocolate one and it tastes pretty good.

They're in Trafford Park, near Bowlers, so if you dial your order through, you can pick up.

Just done the cardio abs... anyone else think it was possibly too easy!? crazy i know, but compared to the others it was a walk in the park

Aren't you suppose to do cardio abs in addition to something else, after it? Then it is hard.

Pure cardio as well as cardio abs preparing you for month 2s 1 hour workouts.

I've done the fitness test and the 1st session so far.
Not doing it 6 days a week though, going to go for 4 times a week + 1 game of 5 a side.

Has anyone else noticed that when he does the stretches he doesn't do the same on both sides? E.g. if he stretched the right hamstring, he wouldn't necessarily also stretch the left hamstring.

No I am pretty sure he stretched both on mine.

I am thinking about doing this again, I only really got half way through a week last time!

At the moment I am just doing weights three times a week and cardio (2/3mile runs on alternate days)

Anyone here combine insanity with any weights or ?

Yeah i did/do.

I like to do insanity first thing as fasting cardio is great. Then I'll usually go for a 3 miles run (nice loop on the river) in an afternoon about 3/4pm (mainly for the benefit of my dog and it only takes 30 mins max taking it slow) and usually go to the gym to hit some weights in the evening.

It does help being single mind.

But from a bulky (but muscle rather than too fat) 17 1/2 stone in January, I am now 32" waist (from 38") and 15st 9lbs and body fat of 11%.

I am wanting to keep the weight the same and get the body fat down to 8-9ish and leave it there. The main thing is I have time for it and enjoy it.

I have been on the paleo diet since Jan and found 5-2 IF works perfectly with my hunger patterns and metabolism.

Nice work mate, hoping to give it a try when back from South Africa. Although I'm only 9 and half stone so looking to trim slightly and tone. Did the body fat percentage go down with insanity or was it mainly a diet/mix hybrid.

I think it was a combination of all three mate. Before I wasn't doing a huge amount of cardio other than running. I do enjoy the insanity work outs as they are more interesting than slogging along the river for an hour or so. But its the usual thing thing of eat clean, drink less, reduce the carbs and excercise and fat drops off.

I have got a 6 pack and V again on my stomach for the first time since I was about 19. I thought I'd said goodbye to them years ago,

Into week 6 and I have royally fucked this up.

Word of warning: do not smoke weed whilst doing this program.

Haha, mint post!

Just finished the first month. Delighted that I have come this far

Lost quite a lot of chest fat so far and can now start to see abs showing. I can certainly feel them anyway

I only did it to improve my overall fitness for when I start football in august. Can believe how much fitter this one month has made me. Knocked between 1-2 mins off a mile while running, but the big bonus is in football. Much more agile and far quicker reactions. Also I lost all my pace when I tore my hamstring a few years ago, now I am fast again! That's the big difference I have seen.

Now its the start of recovery week tomorrow. Also treating myself to a curry on saturday. Its been a long time since I had one :)

It really is a brilliant programme. I was a runner before I discovered this, used to do 40-50min runs a day, now I do about 18min run and insanity. Couldn't imagine going back to such long boring runs. Insanity works your whole body and just makes you feel stronger and 'tighter'!

Having said that I took two weeks off recently to give a shin complaint a rest, goin on holiday on sat so didn't start the full programme again, just did bits and pieces, you can so tell you aren't supposed to do the Cardio ones 5/6 days in a row, absolutely draining! The cardio recovery and rest days are essential.

After reading through this entire thread I have been inspired by your stories and updates. I downloaded this yesterday and did the fitness test last night. My body is aching, but I'm determined to keep this up. Wish me luck!
