Ireland Leaving - Absolute Disaster

Answer me this: why has Barry consitently kept his place despite playing shit for long periods and at times contributing fuck all to the team but Ireland has barely had a chance in comparison?

People talk about form and 'grabbing' chances but to be honest Barry has managed to somehow keep his place when he hasn't warranted it. I will say that Barry's form has picked up over the last few weeks after a poor winter and at the moment he is deserving of his place but for months he didn't deserve it.

It was in his contract that he must play an 'x' amount of games in the world cup year

Stephens been very much a fringe player under both managers this year as the stats show.
He’s completed only 9 full premier league and 2 cup games, all season for one reason or another. He’s had plenty of opportunities, again as the stats indicate. Simply not good enough at this precise moment in time. Hard work and a bit of luck could and should change the balance.

It's NOT a disaster.

We're going to finish the highest this Club has ever finished in the Premier League WITHOUT Ireland featuring prominently in the team. We're going to get into the Champions League WITHOUT Ireland featuring. We're a bloody good team WITHOUT Ireland featuring.

WE DON'T NEED IRELAND.

Sure, he's a good player on his day, infact he's a great player with a great engine and can pick out a pass. But I trust in the manager and as I say we're going to get into the Champions League. So, if that means Ireland's going then so be it - the manager's job is to replace him with somebody BETTER.

Up the Blues!

I like Stevie, I really do, but he wiil only leave if the manager thinks it's the right move & if Stevie wants to himself.

I think "Absolute Disaster" may be over stating things a little too.

Cor Blimey cant you see mate, its obvious we been terrible without him, would of wrapped the league up and won every cup including the european cup we not even in if IRELAND played every game.

Well thats what supporters of Stevie Ireland F.C say, i just support MCFC myself

Chelsea have Lampard.
Arsenal have Fabregas.
United have Fletcher.
Liverpool have Gerrard.
Spurs have Modric.
Aston Villa have Milner.

City have Ireland, as their only box-to-box midfielder. There are better players than Stephen Ireland. The likes of Hamsik, Banega and maybe even Messi will be easily accesable with our funds, so why not bid for better players?

Whatever camp you fall into over Ireland's ability or lack of it etc....fact will be he will go because HE wants to. Because HE doesn't want to fight for his place and lets face it, that place can only become harder to keep as we progress. He (and other players) need to be up for a fight to claim it in the face of incoming players of high(er?) calibre...or ship out if not....

Nobody is forcing him to go. Gone are the days we had to let players go 'for the money'. Down to him personally.
