Ireland speaks out [Merged]

Why is it that just because we pay them a lot of money, we think that it's ok to treat players like crap.

I have had little time for Ireland, but last I checked he was superman for most of ye, no one was more loyal, more hard working and commited to the club.
But now suddenly he speaks his mind, someone I thought ye might respect his view and take it into account.

I'm just saying, 1 month ago he was superman, now he's just another fucker who should have stayed nice and quiet and clicked his heals because we pay him a nice sum.
You're not even a city fan.

Nah, I'm blue. Perhaps you're red. ;)
Fnar. I take that insult on the chin, fella. First time in all me days I've been accused of that and it hurts like Jonny Cash. I've just posted my absolute feelings on the Ireland thing on *another* Ireland thread. I'm not repeating repeating repeating myself!

put it this way if ireland came out with similar comments to bellamy he be still well liked on here but no he didnt ho chose to have a pop at our club from top to bottom

so what else do you expect our fans to be like if anythig its sour grapes from ireland and he just made himself out to be thicker than what everyone thought with his hypocritical comments about the youth team
The Bellamy that you and many others slagged until you heard that press conference? You're fickle, lad.

what did i say about bellamy

35 pages on this? Why can't people just accept he has said what he has. Both the fans and the player need to move on respectively.

I'm not a fucking prosecuting attorney. Get your own quotes.

cause you cant find any

and even if you did come accross 1 or 2 bad qoutes re: bellamy maybe it was because i thought bellamy was a prick but actually turned out to be ok and i was wrong and the complete opposite about ireland

Care to comment BillyShears, DidsburyDave et al

that written interview doesn't even document his comments on our youth team and how they apparantly strut about with a thousand watches on thier arms.

Why? So I can be called a rag, told that I'm not a proper supporter etc...no thanks.

I think Ste was well within his rights to say what he said, and unless anyone has actually spent time with the playing squad at City in the last three years, then they have fuck all idea about what goes on behind the scenes.

Anyway...please continue the witch hunt. I'm sure there's someone somewhere who gives a fuck...
I'm astounded that you think it's ok for a player to reveal that he didn't care whether Manchester City won or lost while he was still playing for us. You're a City fan, so please explain how that can be defended.

Ireland clearly has a problem with Mancini and Cook, but his comments won't bother them in the slightest. The only people who've been hit by him lashing out are the fans; the very same people who lauded him to ludicrous levels on the back of three quarters of a good season. There really was no need for it.

What Ireland has done is indefensible. Fair enough; he's pissed off with the way things turned out for him at City, in particular with the way he's perceived that he's been treated by Mancini and the club. Not being inside the club, I can't possibly know how true or not that is. However, to leave the club and then start slagging it off has always been, to my mind, a petty, small-minded act. And I'm talking about any player from any club, even Norwich United. That former club (whoever it is) has employed you and (certainly in the modern Premier league) given you a lifestyle that the fans can only ever dream about. Instead of spouting the venom that he has done, he could just as easily have said something like, ''Well, I'm disappointed that things haven't worked out as I would have hoped at Manchester City. Hopefully I will be able to push on with my career at Aston Villa, and to become an established member of a team challenging for honours. I would like to thank Manchester City for giving me my big break in football, and for standing by me at various difficult times in my career. I would also like to thank the fans for the tremendous support they have given me, and I look forward to going back there with Villa.'' Not that difficult is it, Stevie? Compare the way Ireland has behaved since he's left with Bellamy, who hasn't said a bad word about us to the media. I know Bellamy has only gone out on loan and, in theory, could play for us again. But I think most on here (even fellow Bellamy fans) realise that he is highly unlikely (due to age and ongoing injury concerns, not to mention the supposed friction between him and Mancini) to play for us again. I wish Bellamy all the best for the future. Ireland can fuck off.

I'm glad more and more people are beginning to notice this.
