Irish referendum to repeal Eighth Amendment

Good to see religious loons having less influence in at least one country.
This was never in my opinion about religion. Ireland has long moved on from there. This was all about what people thought was best for women and human rights. Most on the yes and no side where only a hairs breath away from each other. The extremes on both side might have been the loudest bust they weren't representative of the majority.

Because there are utter headcases running the north, and by fuck there are. Young earth, evolution denying, anti science, snake talking believing twats, doesn’t remove the fact that Ireland had to tell the religious to go forth and multiply.

I have no problem people believing in their compendium of insanity ‘holy’ books. But, don’t let them take these heinous ideas and discrimination these books enshrine affect secular life.

The DUP are insane. They are bigots in a wider sense other than sectarianism.
They live in a bubble of the 17th century puritanical madness.

The fact they are propping up the govt here shows you how fucked up things still are. I have no doubt the people of the North from both communities would vote in similar numbers if given the chance.

Get religion back where it belongs, in the home, sadly indoctrinating children to believe in shit that is farcical. I was one of those children, as were many of my pals. We all managed to come out of it and see it for what it is. A way to control people for their own ends and totally man made, Bronze Age idiocy.

An absolute curse that seeks to divide people. Every time I have attended a service for a funeral or wedding, I shake my head at the complete shit the priests talk and despair at how adults can believe the bolloks they spout.

Well done Ireland and please Catholic Church, take a back seat and accept your place as a busted flush.

Focus on repairing the damage you have done to thousands who were in your charge for generations in homes they ran for children.

Plenty to be getting on with there.
My Irish friend, from a classic catholic family used to attend mass every week. The priest scandals made the scales fall from her eyes and now she no longer darkens the church's door. I believe the church's influence is waning even in Ireland, and a good thing too.

Definitely, even in the conservative parts of the west coast most churches struggle to get enough through the door in an average week to fill a single mass, most people just do weddings, funerals etc.

Good post. The extremes on both sides were the loudest but then again empty vessels make the most noise.

what about buses with slogans on the side lol??
Torch the fucking things :)

I personally don't believe so, it should be a straight choice of whether they're willing to have a child or not, not whether they're only willing to have a child if the foetus meets certain criteria when fully formed. Would have preferred 10 weeks.
Well I’m glad it’s 12 weeks and glad the parents and in particular the mother has that extra time, it’s a shame it’s not double, like in the U.K. but I’m sure that should it be later they will just fly to the U.K. anyway as they are doing now.

I do love a referendum and the will of the people being acted upon.

Well done the Irish.
