Is it time to panic yet?

I love Pep's attacking philosophy, but you *cannot* win the PL without a solid defensive strategy. Our vulnerability is unnerving #mcfc

Even Paul Lake is saying it......you cant go with this way of playing...you have to have a solid defence. Ive been saying ti since Pellers...you either have to build a team from the base upwards or have a midfield and attack that are going to defend from the front....we are doing/have neither......none of our midfielders or attackers are pressing either in the front third (I know why Pep says he has stopped that as teams just play long balls over the top) but they are not defending in the middle third and neither are the midfield with KDB particularly culpable for it.

...Stop asking the fullbacks to push so high is the first thing he needs to do. he also needs to have one midfielder who is going to sit infront of the back 4 at all times........instead of having the whole midfield attack at every opportunity and then when it breaks down the opposition having a clear run at just our two centre backs or one of them and a full back......

The playing out bit forth back is wrongly identified as a problem every week by the pundits.......very few teams are pressing us in that area (spurs may next week however)...what a lot of teams are doing are pressing us mid third or even as we just get over the half way line.....this is why we look to have such good possession stats....teams are letting us have it in our half and then just dropping into their own half and then pressing us......by this team our fullbacks are on the edge of the opposition area and all it needs is one break down and they have an easy run in on goal....that is why its every week they get one chance and one goal...cause the chances they get are easy, compounded by a keeper who looks like he cant save anything .........

Its actually ironic that the way that Pep has us playing and other teams response to this actually negates the need for a keeper who is good with his feet. Instead we need a keeper who is very good at one on ones (which we had)...so now we have a keeper who is good with his feet (no doubt about that) but we don't actually need it......we need a keeper who can come and command situations (which Joe hart was very good at and Bravo absolutely terrible at -see the third and 4th goals today)

No. It's time to panic if, come next season, we don't have new players and are still playing like that. As long as we get top 4 this season I'm willing to keep giving Pep time.
Best way to do it, two bottles of wine , than come back and make em ave it. !

Exactly. Nail on head. Bravo was the extra man against the rags away, he is now a nothing player for us because of what you have said above.

Worryingly we didn't create many chances today. A couple in the first half but in the second we were dire.
Second half was as bad as it gets, but first half was open and Sterling had 2 good chances and Silva at least one I thought. Neither of them looked even remotely comfortable in front of the goal.

Agreed, could never understand how some regular posters thought Pep could just turn up and take us to a title in his first season. We just haven't got the squad to do that.

It may take next summer (and possibly even the summer after that) to get in the player's and right squad balance and depth, to seriously challenge on all fronts again.
What makes you think pep is a good judge , when it comes to buying players , he keeps playing fucking BILKO in goal !
