Some say that all he does for RMA is dribble and that he loses the ball too often. TBH, from a couple of games I've seen of him, it's close to the truth... Do we need another spanish rentboy who'd ruin our game like Navas?

The “if you’re good enough, you’re good enough” argument might apply to the very best, but when selecting squad players, national coaches are much more likely to pick players who are used to playing with the rest of their squad, so playing for Madrid gives you an advantage.

We’ve seen it plenty of times in this country with average players from United and Liverpool being selected for England ahead of much more deserving players from “smaller” clubs.
And yet there's never been an English player who plays for Real Madrid who hasn't regularly been selected for England, despite not playing with the other players.

If you're English and you play for Real Madrid, you'll more than likely fall into the "very best" category and not simply be a squad player.

Anyone who doesn't think that a Spanish player has got more chance of being selected by Spain if he plays for Madrid (or just in Spain in general) than if he plays for us, is plainly in denial.

Madrid are a more attractive proposition than City for about 98% of the world's footballers. The 2% is made up of City fans, English players that don't want to move abroad, and players who don't think they're quite good enough to become a regular at Madrid who care about being a regular for their new club. But let's face it, if a player doesn't think he's good enough for Madrid, is it someone we should be buying?

The reality is that in the overwhelming majority of cases, if Madrid and ourselves are seriously after a player, Madrid will get them.

I'd put Ferminho as second choice to Isco and Rony lopes as silva's understudy, cash in on nasri, Jovetic and Dzeko. Would also help with the home grown quota.
