I'd wait for confirmation on this one, seeing this is being reported by AS and Marca (Madrid media) who tend to jump the gun on positive reports for the club. For example, Marca reported Gabriel Jesus was had picked Real last summer.
It's entirely possible he signs an extension but you'd have to imagine Madrid would have to honor that by giving him the play time he wants or ultimately he'll ask to leave regardless.

He only has a year left on his contract after this season, so if he's going to stay at Madrid he'll have signed a new contract by the end of June.Scored a great goal this weekend and was MoM again.

We'll be freeing up so much money in wages with all the contracts expiring. Give the man what he wants!!
