Islamophobia in the Conservative Party

Not just Islamophobia though. Wibdrush showed us if your skin doesn't shine white you better have a twitchy arse
Total bollox they hate the Poles and Eastern Europeans who are predominantly white.
This just seems a cheap exercise in deflection from Labour hating the Jews.

North Africa is very different to the Middle East. North Africans have a culture distinct from Arab culture. In Saudi Arabia, for example, people say Bismillah (literally meaning “in the name of God”) before embarking on just about everything. The normal response when asked how you are is to reply alhamdolillah (literally meaning “thanks to God”). It’s normal to invoke God in almost every other sentence. Religion is deeply ingrained in the culture, and this behaviour predates Islam.
So my Muslim country doesn't count because it doesn't back up your argument? I'll remind you that your original point was about "Muslim and Arab countries," and that I have to "live there to understand." Now it turns out that I do live there, you've changed the rules to mean specifically Saudi Arabia. Without wanted to sound like a 10 year old, my Muslim country is bigger than yours, so it's equally worthy of being representative of what Muslim and Arab countries are like. Which of course is not at all, because it's a big part of the world and all of them are different.

But this is just a matter of linguistics. It's the difference between the literal meaning of what people say and the function. Moroccan people also regularly invoke God in their sentences, far more than we do in the UK. If you ask them what they're doing at the weekend, they'll often follow up their plans with "in sha Allah" meaning "God willing." And they'll even do this when speaking English sometimes. But does this mean that they're including religion in the conversation? Well given that my atheist Moroccan friends also use it, probably not. When you ask what "salam alaykum" means, you'll be told "peace be upon you." An obviously religious phrase. But the idea that people are thinking religious thoughts when they say it is like thinking that British people are genuinely interested in your well-being when they greet you with "alright?" In terms of actual function (excluding certain contexts) the correct translation would just be "hi." I don't doubt that somewhere like Saudi Arabia, there are likely to be more genuinely religious uses of these terms, but that doesn't mean that you can extrapolate to the rest of the Muslim world that all or most references to God in speech are religiously inclined. What do you say after someone sneezes in the UK? And are you genuinely praying to God to bless them? Well I'm sure you could find someone who is, but that doesn't mean they represent the whole Christian world.

So conservative baroness Varsi who has today also backed up the claims there is islamaphobia in her party is secretly trying to save labour?

There is plenty intolerant people (including anti-semites) on the left, but there are just as many, if not more on the right, then you have the liberals who get upset and offended at any comment.

Reporting the problems with bigotry in the tories should be discussed alongside the issues labour are having with some anti-semites (not all labour people hate jews as you generalised), Niether parties issues can be ignored.

All you're doing here is highlighting the reason why religion as a philosophy is a backward mentality and should be, for the sake of all humanity, consigned to history that we should learn from as a time when people were bigoted enough to use an imaginary sky fairy as justification to be really shitty to other people.

If any culture condones condemning people to death for how they live, not through choice but through natural expression, then it's a culture that really needs to disappear. I've said that of Christianity for many, many years. There's a reason Atheism is the fastest growing ideology in the world. Over 1 billion in 40 years, worldwide.
This all day, any other opinion is dishonest really and being overly sensitive.

In the western world, aboslutely. It's mocked in virtually every aspect of media. Jesus has been animated, portrayed by actors and that's nothing of Christmas. Can you say Muhammad has been made a figure of fun to the same extent?
No but someone drew a picture of him once and it caused a mass shooting by some loony twat. Islam is the sacred religion it seems

Yep Christianity is fair game for comedians they ridicule it to fuck. But when it comes to Islam they turn into the biggest shitbags going. Because they know some **** with a beard could come after them for calling Mohammed a peado. Either rip them all equally or just avoid using the subject in your material.

Or maybe those comedians are prodestant or catholics so are comfortable about ridiculing something they have some knowledge of and don't bother with jokes on Islam, hinduism, sikhism, or budhism as it isn't their experience to draw from
There are muslim comics in this country that take the piss out of their experiences as muslims, same as you get atheist comedians like stephen fry or stewart lee thet have used spoken about and made fun of religions in general including islam.

You really believe that?

Most comedy is observational and based on life experience so yes comedians wil draw on what they know, look at the main comics that ridiculed christianity as a big part of their act Dave Allen a prime example and the father ted writers, both from strict catholic upbrings.
The Vicar parodies from people like dick emery and the vicar of dibbly comedies are more a reflection of the perception and comedy of middle england rather than mocking anglicans.

Most stand ups do life exprerience monologues.

So yes comedy mainly is derived from experience.

Sketch show charactor are old fashion style grotesques and charicatures and again not specifically religiously aimed.
